She was born a slave and later had children with a fellow slave named Thomas. Since a child, Truth always heard voices and was a God fearing woman. This made her the writer and person that she was. She was a fighter and advocate for women's rights, specifically black women. However, she was all about human rights in general and was apart pf the abolitionists. Throughout her career she wrote many books, but she mainly gave influential speeches.
