Ariel

Envy follows Knowledge no matter the person. A big example of this is when Alonso betrays his brother and takes the position of duke because he envies his brother's position, power, and knowledge. Then Alonso's brother Antonio wants to kill Alonso for his position and power.

Perspective

Perspective can make someone blind through bias. Miranda immediately trusts and falls in love with the first person she has seen. This is because she has never seen anybody but her dad before, while Prospero crashes and destroys Antionio's boat with many other people on it because he no longer trusts anyone.

Power

Manipulation can bring power through control. This is shown when Prospero manipulates Ariel. Although Prospero is shown to have powers, Ariel is very powerful, most likely stronger than Prospero. Even though Ariel is stronger he still serves Prospero. Prospero saved Ariel from being trapped and manipulated him using this fact. "'What is 't thous canst demand? My liberty ... I will be correspondent to command and do my sprinting gently." (Shakespeare.1.291-354). During this conversation, Ariel asks for his freedom which Prospero reminds him of all of his deeds towards Ariel. This manipulated Ariel into staying longer than their original agreement.

Act 3

Perspective: Perspective can make you perceive if a person is good or bad. While Ariel wants to protect Prospero because he sees him in a good light Caliban intends to kill him because he thinks Prospero is an evil person, "'Caliban: As I told thee before, I am subject to a tyrant, a sorcerer, that by his cunning hath cheated me of the island.'

Ariel: 'Thoust Liest."' (Shakespere3.46.49).

Act 2

The greedy will stop at nothing for power. During Act 2 no matter what the cost is. Antonio convinces Sebastian to kill his brother in his sleep. Even though Sebastian believes it will weigh on his conscience he still goes through with it before being stopped, "Draw thy sword. One stroke

Shall free thee from the tribute which thou payest, And I the King shall love thee." (Shakespere2.334.336).
