Early in the morning, We meet Puan Syakirin the HR at the 13th floor of the hotel for the briefing about the Adya hotel. We were given printed slides each person and own punchcard. Then we attend the weekly assembly which is every monday. In the assembly, we sing the Negaraku song, Kedah state song, Adya pledge and also recite the doa with all the staff. Furthermore, puan Syakirin let us tour the hotel after being told that I am in the housekeeping department for the first two months and we split into 2 department where after those 2 months we will enter the food and beverage department. 

There we met En. Ashraff, En Muiz and Puan Azian the person in charge for Housekeeping department. Then En.Muiz bring me to the floor 9 where I met Puan Ina that will be assist me for today. After lunch we clear the room at floor 10 and by 3pm we finish all things and attend the staff meeting and go home at 4.30pm. Puan Ina had assist me with very good explanation where as for start I need to clean the bathroom. Before that, I need to wash the cup if it used by the guest. Then I can proceed to clean the bathroom. The amenities also need to be put at the corner of the sink. Two towel need to be fold and put on the steel rack on top of the toilet bowl with the hand towel. And if the room is occupied the hand towel need to be fold into two and put on the tiles in the bathroom. Puan Ina also teach me how to fold the iron rope and prayer mat.

Arrived at workplace early for breakfast and start briefing at 8.30 a.m with Adya pledge and recite the doa. Then En. Ashraf tell about the daily occupancy rate and then showed the tutorial to fold the towel and prayer mat. Then I was assist by Balqis for the Public Area at floor 1. She showed me step by step things to do at that floor and to clean the public toilet and each 2 hour need to touch up it.

As for today, we swipe all the floor at the public area in floor 1 and then mopped it. Then, we clean the glass surface and windows. After that area had dried. We check and clean the cabinet at the elevator area. We also check behind the curtain if there is any rubbish or dust at the window. Then we take wet fabric to wipes the dust at the door and door frame and also the painting at the public area. 

Then balqis teach me how to touch up the toilet and replace the tissue and how to handle the tissue holder. Second day in public area, after swipe, we mopped the floor and clear the carpet at the hallway for the blood given event in the ballroom. Then En. Ashraf ask Puan Kogelah to show me the floor 13 which is the area for Maintenance and HR department. We go upstairs and clean the public toilet of man and woman, swipe the cigarette as that floor is already clean because of the wind had dust away all the dust then mop the tiles, clear the elevator area and also the staff toilet. 

We also re arranged the chair in the meeting room and clean the tiles. Then after lunch we polishes inside out the elevator using the chemical that suites the aluminium (3M spray). Puan Kogelah also teach me how to clean the mop change the dirty water and the correct way to use the mop stick which is to spin and clean tiles by tiles so there will be no marked on the tiles as it dry. Evening shift for public area upon arrived by 3 pm at the hotel, Puan Kogelah show me the vacuum cleaner at the ground floor and go to the board meeting room. It tooks me half an hour to vacuum the meeting room. After that I do the routine of swiping the floor after all morning shift staff go home and mop it. I told En Hasmizi and Puan Umai about the toilet leaking into the pantry room where it smells so awful. They called the maintainance but regretfully there is no further action after that. Today as arrived at the hotel, I clear the mop water and change it with new one. I clean the stain of milo water at the emergency stairs of floor 1. Then I do the routine of swipping and mopping the floor one. Once done the first and second step,I clear the public toilet. Today is a bit tiring because I do deep cleaning at the toilet where I brush of the dirt Inside out of the toilet bowl, brush of the tiles and clear the flow of the drain by brushing it all the way to the water holes to clear the way. Then late in the evening I also clear the dustbin in the toilet with Puan Umai accompanying me. 

At night I help En. Halim to count the linen and help the Housekeeping staff to clear room and try to learn something new by asking En. Afif regarding the Housekeeping routine. He let me and Ajrina to change the bed linen after cleaning the toilet and told us that we've done it well. We clear the bathroom, put the amenities(body lotion, bath gel, shampoo) and fold the towel. As for the water heater we clean it dried it and arranged the cup holder at 4 o'clock direction. First thing I do this evening is swipe the floor in front of the lift. Then I need to mop that area as Kak Yana spill the mop water in front of the lift. Then as usual clean the woman and man toilet. 

After Asar prayer I help En. Solihin to guard the pool where I need to assist people who wants the towel to refill the form as how much towel taken and be return back. Then stop any men from entering the woman swimming pool. En. Solihin showed me the mix pool area and where to put the clean towel and place to put the used towel.

Today I came early at Adya hotel at 2.50 p.m. I change from slippered to covered shoes as it is more proper wear for working purpose. At 3 p.m. I started my cleaning task with the wet fabric so the dust will stick to it. Besides, I also wipe the table at the public area and dust away the sugar that spilled on the chair. Then I also wiped the glass with the blue chemical. 

At 5 p.m after eating, I clean the staff area as they had go home so it will not be easily dirty again as they step on the tiles especially when the linen trolley passed by. Toilet also is cleaned with a little bit of touch up. Today I need to cover the pool as the hotel is short of staff. I have to sit at the registration table and wait for guest to attend the pool. As for registration, there are two types of form that need to be refill which is "guest pool towel record" and another one is for those who have membership card "Adya prestige member record". The guest need to refill how much towel taken and return. They also need to fill in their room number and then make sure their signature is taken as the towel is return back. As for the membership form, the guest need to fill in their membership number, time in and out and also number of pax per entering. At floor 2, besides swimming pool that consist of two types which are family pool and pool for woman only, there are gymnasium, Che Ah Che Ngu Spa and also prayer room. 

If any guest come out from each pool and the floor is wet, I need to keep the floor dried using moped so nobody will fall all the way from the pool to the elevator. As today the Adya ballroom is occupied with the meeting of fishery department. I quickly go sweep the floor and mop the public area and the elevator area before they finished the meeting. In advanced, I sweep the floor around the cafe, office and the hallway before the housekeeping staff going down to the floor 1. Then I clean the toilet and change the mop water into new one. I also refill the toilet paper in the man and woman toilet. 

Later in the evening, around 5.30 I mopped the area of cafe, office and hallway once the linen trolley is removed as it leaves stains on the tiles everytime. Moreover I followed miss natasha and amirah to send the prayer mat into the guest room.  Then front office asked us to combined the bed of room 1007 and 1113. Later they change their room to 1006 so we need to combined that room and uncombined the room 1007. At 7 we closed all the windows near the elevator area and hallway of each floor before we go to floor 5 to mopped the spilled of coway water on the floor. Today is my last day in the public area. As usual I come at 3 p.m and after change my shoes I started to do my daily task:

As today is my last day in public area, at evening I show Amirah the pantry where we keep all the public area equipment such as:

🔸Care for cleaning purpose
🔹Brushes for brushing

Moreover, I teach Amirah as she'll be the next in public area how to clean the mopped stick as how Puan Kogelah teach me and then help her to change the clean water for tomorrow morning will be her shift. Then, we help the linen staff to re arrange the linen by category and types in the linen room before end our shift by 11 p.m.

P/s: I think I'm still lacking in doing my task because there is no proper teaching and learning session where I start with trainee who willingly teach me on her second day in public area as she learn by her friends and no staff tell us properly where all the chemicals to refill or what kind of water to use to mopped the floor but it is still okay as everyday is a learning process. Today is the first day of my internship in the housekeeping room. As for today, the briefing started at 8.30 a.m and Puan Rohana given the task today so I get assist by Syiqa to stay at floor 12 which are the VIP floor. After briefing we went to the weekly assembly in front of Adya Hotel which shown the integrity of the workers from whole department to attend the assembly.

We started the task by 9.30 a.m where the first thing we do is bring out the trolley from the pantry and bring it to the hallway. Then we go to the elevator area to open the window, sweep and mopped the floor then wipes the window with vision chemical. Once done, we open all 9 room doors and sliding door and curtains for the better air flow.

We wipes all the glass area, wipes the mirror and also the sliding door. Once done by 4p.m we start again from the elevator area where we close the mirror and all the 9 room sliding door and curtain and then double check that all things is in it's place. We also sweep the carpet and finish by 4.30p.m.

Here comes the first trial of doing the real housekeeping with staff. As today is my first day, I was quite nervous but Ika help me a lot through the day. After briefing, She ask me to go to floor 5 and I need to mop the elevator area while she gather the linen that will be needed. Today we get 18 room that needed to be housekeeping. I help Ika to arrange the linen into the trolley before I go to floor 13 to ask about the vacuum by the maintainance but later by 11 they sent the vacuum so we just keep the door open to vacuum the room. We refill the go green water then went for lunch. After lunch we still have 7 room that need to be completed. 

Ika assist me that I need to check the vanity counter and take all the coffee and tea cup to the toilet and wash it if is dirty and also the go green bottle. Then after wipes the toilet, I need to put the amenities and toilet paper that need to be fold into triangle at the end of the tissue. Then I check the towel if there is any stain or hair before fold the towel and put it on the rack above the toilet bowl and also for the occupied room, I need to put the bath mat on the floor by folding it into two. After that I need to vacuum the room and wipes the mirror and sliding door. At first I was assisted by shahira but after 2 rooms and a litte bit misunderstanding about task given and people who will be assisted, I go to floor 5 with Cik B while Effy take my place. I help Cik B to housekeeping 17 rooms but 2 rooms were refused by the guest. I also help her clean the general manager room which is first I need to clean the kitchen and wash the dishes. Briefing today En. Hasmizi remind us to never put any chemical in the mineral bottle beacuse it is not proper and not right. But if there is no option, we need to put away the adya label and mark with marker pen to avoid mistakenly drinking chemical. Then the interns were release first as the staff had meeting. I went to floor 10 and get the moped stick to moped the guest elevator area on floor 11. I help syiqa to bring out 2 trolley from the pantry while waiting for the staff. Mostly, floor 11 had 2 single bed in each room. As I had done my task, I help Ika to put the pillow case and wipes the sliding door and 3 mirror which are inside the toilet, outside the toilet and at the vanity counter. Today as for briefing and task given the supervisor asked me to complete the monthly project with Effy. Today the project is to clean the bed head. We went to floor 12 and there is not much linen in the trolley. So I went down to get wiping linen from Puan Ira while Effy open all the sliding door at that floor. Then luckily I bump into Afif and I asked him to teach me how to clean the bed head because both me and Effy never do that.

We clean all 9 room’s bed head at floor 12 and after lunch we went to floor 9 and clean the bed head of 22 rooms. We also wipes all the sliding door, glass surface and mirror. We regret that we get this task without proper assist from staff. So we use pillow case in the trolley to wipes the glass surface but it is too dirty and staff regret with us. First of all I help Shi at floor 4, we clean 14 rooms before 1.30 p.m and left only 2 rooms. It is quite exhausted because I need to check the coffee set on the vanity counter then wash it if needed. Then I throw the water from the kettle and wash the go green bottle before cleaning the toilet. After that I need to wipes all the mirror and check the sliding door and wipes it if there is any fingerprints. Then vacuum the room. 

Never to forget fold the towel and bath mat and put it in the toilet and arrange the amenities. Lastly, I vacuum the room. It is kinda rushing because I was always left out and never had chance to make the bed. Not only her but also by other staffs because once they done doing the bed they left us vacuuming the room and so what they expected from us because everyone is rushing to finish room on time. After lunch I help Cik B and need to wait about 1 hour to clean the GM room and wait until 4p.m to clear the checkout room. Today is evening shift. I come at 3 p.m and go to help staff Izreen at floor 10 as there is still 2 rooms left before her shift done. Then I help staff Anas to clean the room as the guest move to another room. After 6.15 p.m, I went from floor 11 to floor 3 to close the the windows for air flows. At night I help staff Anas to complete the 2 bath mat and 1 towel at room 1121. Then Kak Umairah come and notice that the duvet is inside out and I change it again. 

Furthermore, I send the request of room 1003 of a towel and 3 laundry bag. Later, room 7009, 5003 and 6005 request to refill water and lastly we do some preventive maintenance programme(pmp) at floor 8 which is we wipes the bed head and bed frame. Today Is my first day as a coordinator in housekeeping department. For the task, first of all I need to update the beneficiary form of the staff. They had refill their heirs relationship and contact number. Then, I made the list of walkie talkie tagging from maid 3 to maid 12 and also for Public area, supervisor and Executive housekeeper and print it but unfortunately I cannot tag it because during working hour they used the walkie talkie and return it only when they had done their shift same as me. En. Megat the executive housekeeper also asked me to make the list of how to reduce cost for the housekeeping department. 

As I presented to him what I had search:
1.Encourage guest to reuse towel at least for 2 nights. 
2.Reuse the dustbin plastic as much as can
3.use refillable dispenser/containers for the amenities in the toilet. 
4.Eliminate waste labor is the last choice! 

But En. Megat revise that the used of refillable container had the disadvantage as mostly for the hygiene because we not sure if the before guest had put anything inside the dispenser or any contaminated happen during refilling process from the staff. Today, as the coordinator, I need to answer the phone and give instruction through the walkie talkie to the maid floor or if any guest have any request, I need to asked maid of the floor to send the request. Then I learn how to read the room system which are:

🎫Pink: Occupied Clean (OC) 
🎟️Blue: Occupied Dirty (OD) 
🏮Red: Vacant dirty (VD) 
®️ Reserved: Means that the room will have guest arrival.

I also help En. Megat to finish his proposal and insert the picture of the daily task of housekeeping department. I went to all floor starting from floor 13 to take the picture of:
- 3 units of broken vacuum
- dressing chair that had been repair
- the linen arrangement
- the vacant clean room

Today, done briefing, the interns had chances to do the bedding tutorial under the supervisor supervision which are Puan Umairah and Puan Azian. We gain lots of information from them. After the tutorial, I stay at office to answer the phone call, tell the maid floor about the room status and finish the report of inventory chart from october 2019 to february 2020. 

I took longer time to do the report as I need to open many files in the computer which is I’m not used to and I also need to refer to the linen staff En.Alim about the inventory and pricing of the theressa linen. Once done, I email it to En.Megat for further action. At 4p.m I was asked to print the room status report and staple it at the wall in the office. So the maid floor can marked the date of the day they done their monthly pmp for each floor.

Today, I print the UPL letter of Puan Ashikin for her leave until 31 march regarding her pregnancy morning sickness. I fill in the details in the log book about Puan Ashikin, Puan Zurina and En. Megat leave application form. Then, En Megat asked me to write 15 things in a memo about the HOD Meeting and send it to him through whatsapp. 

I also search for the notice of avoiding shaking hands and touching and preventive measure at working place concerning corona virus. I also search for signage that will be consider to put in the public toilet and prayer room. Today,supposedly this is my last day as a coordinator but I guess yesterday is the last because today after 10 a.m, Puan Ana asked me to mopped the foot print at the hall area then I return to office. But then, they asked me to be in public area today as Puan Kogelah is on her off day and no one to cover the public area. So, as usual, I go to clean the toilet and sweep the floor at floor 1 and mopped the area before the staff coming down for lunch. She also asked me to cover the PA task at floor 13 which I need to do the same things as floor 1.

After finish, I went down to sweep and mopped the guest elevator area. Then En. Saufie from the banquest asked me to help him to set up the roof stall as it needs two manpower to arrange it. Today after briefing, I  help Kak Syu in the linen storage to separate and count the linen that need to be given to each maid floor. So I help her arrange the towel and other linen and put it in the trolley and some staff take the linen by their own. Then, Puan Ana asked me to help Lizan do the housekeeping at floor 3 as the occupancy today is high and they need a helping hand.

After lunch, I help Anas as requested at another floor. As there are just a few rooms left we had more time before finish the working hour. So Anas give me chances to make the queen bed by myself, as this is my first time doing it alone, I take about 30 minutes to just done bed making and vacuum the carpet while anas help me clean the toilet. Supposedly yesterday was my first day on linen department but luckily today is the day. I came to the office by 11 pm and help Kak Syu separate the linen by category while she go to other floor to take dirty linen from maid floor. Kak Syu then asked me to join her gather the linen from other floor after my lunch as she finished her duty at 3pm. It is fun to push the trolley along the hallway and taking the dirty linen from each room that is not vacant clean yet.

Then, Kak Ira start her duty at 3 pm,she teach me how to fill the form that will be taken by the laundry and for record. Not to forget I had learn how to record the count linen in the morning by category. I also asked by Puan Yan to tagging the new towel with permanent marker in the linen storage room. The 2020 Malaysia Control Order(MCO) implemented today as a preventive measure by the federal government of Malaysia in response to the COVID19 pandemic in the country. All the trainee were released to be back home.
