What always remained constant in this movie within the main character was the hope and dedication to achieving what his goals were at the time. In this piece of text from chapter one of Mice and Men, Lennie is enthusiastically talking to George about what he envisions for them in the future. Lennie's words can be seen as his interpretation of the American Dream, and what it means for him. The American Dream motivates Lennie and allows him to continue to work in hopes that one day he will prosper how he so desperately wants to. The author, John Steinbeck displays the hope that can be instilled in people, even for a character like Lennie whom is very childish and naive.
