How has the “art of story” impacted you? In what ways have memorable teachers and leaders used story to inspire change? Do you agree with Pink’s assertion that while facts dominated the Information Age, story will dominate the Conceptual Age?

I have always been fascinated by stories, not just from movies or TV shows, but from real people. Listening to stories of my family members, friends, acquaintances, neighbors, public leaders, and teachers alike. For instance, The "I have a Dream" speech by Martin Luther King Jr. has elements of his background as a black man and his family wishing for a better life for black people and other minorities against discrimination in 1950s America. According to Pink, "stories provide context enriched by emotion, a deeper understanding of how we fit in and why that matters." It is fairly easy to locate information with a book and the internet, and we are compelled to tell stories about ourselves and other people. I can say that facts are dominant in the Information Age, and stories can dominate the Conceptual Age, but at the same time, Pink listed doctors and lawyers that understand and utilize stories from help their patients/clients. So, I believe that facts and stories can combine to create an understanding and inspiring narrative.
