         <description><![CDATA[<p>An earthquake is a natural phenomenon caused by the rapid release of energy in the Earth's crust, resulting in vibrations that produce seismic waves. The squeezing and collision between tectonic plates on Earth lead to displacement and fractures along plate boundaries and within plates, which is the main cause of earthquakes. The location where an earthquake begins is called the hypocenter, and the point on the Earth's surface directly above it is called the epicenter. It is estimated that over 5 million earthquakes occur worldwide each year, but only about a dozen or so have the potential to cause serious harm to humans. The most intense ground shaking during a destructive earthquake occurs in the epicentral area, which is often the same region as the epicenter. Due to their powerful destructive force and unpredictable nature, earthquakes often result in significant loss of life and can lead to fires, flooding, toxic gas leaks, the spread of bacteria and radioactive materials, as well as secondary disasters like tsunamis, landslides, collapses, and fissures in the ground.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>A tsunami as a special type of shallow water wave in the ocean, its formation requires the following three main conditions:</p><p>A shallow depth large earthquake is a prerequisite. Global typical tsunami statistics analysis shows that only earthquakes above magnitude 7.0 on the Richter scale can potentially cause a tsunami, with a shallow depth usually less than 20-50 kilometers. It is worth noting that large earthquakes often occur in the ocean, but not all deep-sea earthquakes generate tsunamis. The generation of tsunamis is related to the seismic physical mechanisms such as the magnitude of the earthquake, the seismic source mechanism, the depth of the seismic source, and the rupture process. Generally, tsunamis can be triggered by large earthquakes with mainly thrusting (up and down movement), long-lasting rupture processes, and shallow seismic sources.</p><p>Secondly, the source area of the tsunami has a large water depth and is mostly found in the deep sea. If the energy released by the earthquake is to be converted into the energy of the wave motion of a huge body of water, then the earthquake must occur in the deep sea, as only the deep sea has a huge body of water. Earthquakes occurring in shallow seas cannot generate tsunamis and often result in ocean swells.</p><p>Thirdly, the coastal conditions must have an open and gradually shallowing coastline. For a tsunami to cause damage in the coastal zone, the coastline must be open and have gradually shallowing conditions. When tsunami waves propagate in the open ocean, the wave height is less than 1 meter and does not cause damage. However, when entering shallow waters, the sudden shallowing of the water depth causes the front wave to slow down, while the high-speed water behind continues to surge forward, resulting in a rapid increase in wave height and tremendous destructive power. Especially for those wide outer and narrow inner "triangular bays", the further into the bay, the easier it is for the tsunami waves to intensify and cause greater destruction.</p>]]></description>
