This passage is something that I’m quite used to reading in terms of atmosphere and sense because I have read many books where the atmosphere was also a bit mysterious or dark in an endless world, which is the sense that I’m getting from this passage.

    On a scale of 1 to 5, I am quite comfortable with reading this passage so I’d put a 5. This style of writing for this particular passage is not over complicated for me as with other parts of the story and quite straightforward. Yes, this style of writing is something that I am used to reading because the wording is rather straightforward but its phrased such that it’s simple but interesting. I think I said this before but I view writing and art as a type of ‘inedible food’ in a way and this particular passage “tastes” simple and nice.

Such passage is a bit foreign to me because the characters speak of topics or people as if we should know them, but I do not know of them, so being put in a shadow where not much explanation is given to the topics characters, or backstories. 

    2) On scale of 1 to 5, I would say that I am at a comfort level of 4. What makes me slightly uncomfortable is the capitalising of the first letter of random nouns which are not often capitalised. This makes me wonder why the author would capitalise such common and seemingly insignificant nouns.

    janelle: i realised that there are many different kinds of writing styles and I enjoyed this style a lot. I also realised how creative we can be when it comes to developing characters with many different kinds of personalities.
    violet: were not familiar with the words but gave overall feeling of uniqueness, giving a flair of speciality.

    Gwen thinks that the characters can be named in another way instead of Mr Butt. 
    Anran thinks the naming conventions are quite unique as one does not generally name roads and valleys after letters.

    We think that the passage is easy to understand but it was a little boring depending on how you looked at the passage. We also felt that the passage was a little dry and the names are a bit hard to pronounce. Some of the words that he used were unfamiliar to us and we couldn’t read it.

    Hui Min——The passage needs to be read slowly as the author puts a lot of words together, which makes us need to read it again and again to understand the passage. The author’s writing style makes it quite boring.

    Gillian—-The passage is all over the place. The naming convention is very confusing and his choice of words are confusing.

    Rei—-The passage is a bit confusing due to the author’s writing style. As the setting is set in another world with magic, I don’t really feel like I can relate to it.     We felt confused and curious because we could not understand the writer’s writing. At the same tie, we wanted to find it what would happen and the meaning and purpose of the story.     claire: i found the passage different from the ones i usually read and i really like the name mr butt :)

    Zhenzhen: At first, when i was reading the book, i found it quite hard to understand because the writer included a strange use of vocabulary. However, as i went on reading, the context got even more interesting and better to understand and i found it very enjoyable.
