~The monitor is that filter we use in the back of our head to edit what we say or right
~The monitor works when we have the time and focus to use it and when we know the rules to apply
~People can overuse and underuse their monitors
~When you overuse it you may seem shy and not speak with free flowing ideas
~When you underuse it you might be hard to understand but you will be "enthusiastic and personalble"

Citation: Freeman, D.E, & Freeman, Y.

A a future educator in a world where schools are getting more diverse every year I find it very valuable to examine these theories and see which ones I can apply. I also like to make connections between how our textbook (with a ELL perspective) talks about young language acquisition compared to other textbooks for infant and toddler development. Both looking at how these children are acquiring their first language but with different focuses!
