The whiteboard pen (also called a whiteboard marker or dry erasable marker) was invented by Jerry Woolf of Techform Laboratories and later copy righted by Pilot Pen in 1975. It is a non-permanent marker and uses an erasable ink that clings to the writing surface without binding to or being sucked in by it. Applications range from temporary writing with rayon sheets (for use with overhead projectors) to whiteboards and similar lustrous surfaces. The erasable ink does not contain the toxic chemical compounds xylene and/or toluene, unlike permanent markers.

your teacher have dry erase markers that smudge or are difficult to erase, while get her a pack of expo markers. Sometimes it will smudge but not very often if you take extra good care if them then it will see your teacher through an extended period of time. That is unless your students get a hold of them...than they may take off the cap and it will dry out or they just use way to much ink in one time.
