         <description><![CDATA[<div>In 1968 Yenisehir High school (Ankara college) was founded by the Turkish Education Association. This college had given consolidated English education until 1952. After 1952 English education has started. This education method become commonplace and inspired by the Ankara College there were other private schools founded especially in cities populated by students such as İstanbul, Ankara, İzmir and Adana. These private education facilities are founded  because the parents of the students started to be aware of the importance of knowing at least one foreign language and they wanted to send their children to the private schools.</div>]]></description>

Every four years, the Board of Education and Discipline organized meetings that discuss issues about education at the national level. Foreign language teaching had a secondary position because illiteracy was a more important problem during the first decades of the Republic. In 1988, a foreign language policy was first established by the BOED. </div>]]></description>
