The act of unwinding is murder and should not be considered a justified replacement for abortion, nor does it support the right to life. The child has no say in the value of their life.

The act of unwinding is not a just action because "[the child] didn't ask to be born, and [the child] didn't ask to be unwound, either" (Shusterman 95).

The justifications made for the act of unwinding are false. Just because the physical part of the person's body is preserved and lives on through another body does not justify the action of unwinding. The child is still murdered because their soul no longer exist in this world. This goes against most religious beliefs on human life. If there is no soul, then there is not a person, only a body; therefore, that person's life is still being taken from them. Despite which religion (Christianity, Judaism, etc.) one follows, there is a common belief that a person's life is sacred and should not be shortened because that hinders God's plan.

Pertaining to Risa's reasoning for her order to be unwound, it is still murder. Rise is not given a justifiable reason to be unwound. No reason to unwind someone is justifiable. Risa is very talented; however, her small mistakes were translated into her being "not good enough."

The government sees unwinding as a viable option to uphold the right to life. The government believes unwinding is not murder because the body parts of the unwound child lives on through other people. This belief is wrong because the child is killed in order for his or her body parts to be harvested for other people. Also, many organs cannot be transplanted; therefore, many of the unwound child's organs are wasted.

The government does not see the fault in unwinding, but the recipient knows it is murder even if the government will not admit it.

The act of unwinding is murder because the child does not have a decision in whether or not he or she wants to stay alive. The outcome of their life is put into other people's hands, making their lives less valuable then others. Connor is not able to decide if he wants to be unwound or not. He is supposed to go through with it because it is his parents' order.

Lev is supposed to be unwound at 13 because that is the "purpose" of his life. Supposedly, Lev's purpose in life is to die. Unwinding is not the purpose of living because that would mean that Lev only has death to look forward to. Life is meant to be spent with people you love, not spent thinking about dying.
