These Witches Don't Burn-by Isabel Sterling

These Witches Don't Burn is a Young Adult/Fantasy Fiction novel, by Isabel Sterling. It tells the story in modern-day Salem, Massachusetts of a teenage witch dealing with the normal drama of high school (like her ex dating someone new, figuring out which college she should attend, dating someone new), but also with the drama of a rival coven that may be coming to town to kill her and the rest of her family/coven.
If you are interested in the supernatural, LGBTQ characters, on your edge suspense of "What is going to possibly happen next?!" and mystery, this is the book for you. The main characters are relatable even though half of them have supernatural capabilities. This is the first book in the saga--it sets the reader up for a modern-day battle between supernatural forces.

Fruits Basket By- Natsuki Takaya, is for people that are interested in the genre romance, includes sentimental moments, and a bit of slice of life. If you like all of those things. Then this book is for you! I'll say, this book is for rated teens and up. Anyone can read this book to be honest, if you like it's story line. The story is about a girl name Tohru fragile in the inside but warm loving and selfless on the outside. She cares about others and she dosn't want to be a burden or owe anything to anyone. So that's why, she started off living in a tent. Also, worked as a janitor at some building. She puts her effort in every chores she needs to do. So she can gather enough money to pay for her tuition at her high school. She's also alone.. No one really is there for her or at least to give her a head start/provide clothes, food or even shelter for her. That's what I mean by she dosn't want to bother anyone. On the other hand her mother passed away by a car accident... Later on, she meets theses people that changes her life drastically. When everything starts to come into place. I guess???... I chose this book since, I know many people might want to try a new type of genre. Also, this book has a more deeper meaning to it than any other book I've read. Probably because the genre includes "Slice Of Life". All and all, Yes! I love Fruits Basket. It is a great book to read. When you want to learn a thing or two of how characters handle their situations. If your interested you should also watch the animated version as well.

Warning:!Some Explicit Language!
Five Feet Apart is by Rachael Lippincott, Mikki Daughtry, and Tobias Iaconis and the genre is Romance and Drama. I feel like people who are more into sad books would enjoy reading the book and watching the movie. This book is about two teenagers named Stella Grant and Will Newman who have a hereditary disease called Cystic Fibrosis and must keep 6 feet apart AT ALL TIMES. They start to get to know each other better and their illness is holding them back from having a closer connection. Stella is all about organization and daily routines to help keep her life together but Will is the complete opposite, he likes to be free and doesn't want to stay in a hospital his entire life so when he is 18-years-old, he doesn't want to stay in the hospital any longer.

(some spoilers!)
Radio Silence is a work of realistic fiction written by Alice Oseman. It follows the story of a smart head girl, Francis, who will stop at nothing to reach her goals which currently are getting into her top pick college. But when the timid friend of the head boy, Aled, spills a surprising secret to her at a party their fates intertwine, and find out they're more alike than they thought. Will this all change when they go to college (or at least attempt to), how about when Aled's mothers gets thrown into the mix? Their friendship grew to be something amazing, but the only question is, can they keep it this way?

This stand-alone is perfect for those intrigued by the "a girl and a boy but they don't fall in love" trope. It illustrates a good independent overall theme yet is also sure to (as all good books do) make the characters struggle. However, since this book wasn't the best it could've been (to me) I wouldn't really recommend it with really high praise. It wasn't really bad, the characters were likable and the themes were good, but there were some noticeable plot holes that really annoyed me.

Frindle - By Andrew Clements

Frindle is an interesting book, going towards the genre of Realistic Fiction. To summarize this, starting off with the protagonist, who´s name is Nick Allen. Who attends school like every other kid, at Lincoln Elementary School. Kids in his area, would consider themselves in one of the three categories, ¨Good¨, ¨Smart¨, and ¨Bad¨, though they all agreed that Nick was not in any of those, you could say he was like an idea maker, and new for sure what to do with them... Thus began his greatest idea - as the book says - the name, Frindle, of a pen, or any pen in fact, at least the regular, non mechanical ones. Then, more and more ideas sponsored his idea, making him pretty famous, but remember, this is all fiction. If you want to hear till the end, read it yourself, which I recommend this to Realistic Fiction people, and with a little less adventure you may say about this book.

Darth Paper Strikes Back; an Origami Yoda book- By Tom Angleberger

The main focus of this book is (Dwight/Origami Yoda), whois now in some hot water when he is expelled from the school for threatening a student at school. Now let me give you a quick recap of Dwight. Dwight, a weird, strange, and completely unpredictable guy that barely communicates with someone is a complete loser. I mean I'm not trying to be rude or anything but that is basically what to call him. He always has stains on his overalls, always has his shoes untied, and always getting into trouble. This guy walks with a finger puppet on his hand all day, never really taking it off, and tells you to talk with it. Whenever Dwight gets in trouble it’s not because he meant it, he just makes weird mistakes. Now back to the plot, when Dwight made that threat he was instantly taken to the principal’s office and then got suspended. His friends were confused why because this was normal for Dwight. There was no threat made, it was just Dwight being Dwight. So what they do is try and show why Dwight is a good kid and shouldn’t be expelled.
The ending is just oh so perfect that you can't deny that it had a genius direction on where the author wanted to take these books. I really advise you to read at least this book and the one before, because they are just so good. I don't consider them to be my favorite books, but they have just a certain quirkiness to them that makes them unique and different.
. . .

Overall, I believe that this book is one of the better sequels of the franchise not only because the plotline is super good, but also because the execution of this one is just great. The twists and turns of the story are perfect and the theme and tone of the book is something that takes the book to a whole new level. Nevertheless, I believe that this is one of the best in the series.

The book, Slacker by Gordon Korman is fiction. An eighth grade loser named Cameron Boxer is a slacker. He gets low b's to high c's, he is not enrolled in anything that has to do with extra curricular activities, he is involved in no clubs and has no interest but to play video games with his friends Pavel, Chuck and Borje. His mom asked him to take the ziti out of the oven in 10 minutes, but he is too busy with video games, so he ignores her. The house almost burns down and that's when his parents had enough with his behavior. He explains that its his nemesis, EvilMcKillpeople, that is distracting him on his video game but his parents are not amused. They threaten to take away his video games if he didn't do anything productive. So Cameron Boxer the slacker, decides to make a fake club with the help of his friend Chuck. His plan was to trick his parents into thinking that he is doing something, and that he is not only involved in something, he is the president of the P.A.G, the positive action group. He thinks he fooled everyone, but he hasn't. A girl named Daphne believes it and wants to help a beaver named Elvis, whose colony was destroyed by the new mall. Cam ends up having to do work and his whole school is grateful for it. He never wanted any friends, just his video games. But the P.A.G backfires because he has loads of people coming up to him and wanting too talk and say how thankful they are when that's the opposite of what Cam wanted. Later on in the book he goes to find his sister so he goes to her friends house to find her. He goes up the stairs and he hears a voice from the room and hears evilmckillpeople's voice. He goes in to find out that the person he blamed the house fires on, the person that he hogs the game system from was his sister.

(Danica Strawn) There may be some spoilers, but minor ones.
D-Day. One chance to unite. Everything to lose.
Brief (ish) summary: It's World war two. June 6, 1944. The Normandy Invasions, otherwise known as D-Day. Dee is an American soldier, on a British ship, ready to unload its passengers to their doom. At least, that's what it feels like to him. Once the ship unloads them, mayhem erupts. Bullets ping, motars explode, and medics are no where in site. But, to Dee, that isn't the main concern. Dee Carpenter is 16 (he lied about his age when enlisting). But Dee Carpenter isn't his real name, either. His real name was Dietrich Zimmermann, and he is German.
In the same location, just miles above, James, an Canadian paratrooper, is scared. He is only 19, and one year prior, If-Day had been dragging over Canada's head for a while. He had no interest in being shot at, and so he remained a Canadian civilian...until he wasn't. He joined the military to help the Allies, but the way D-Day is going, there might not be anyone left to help.
Inside the streets of France, Samira is rushing. Its happening. Samira and her mom seem like their playing along with the Nazis, but in actuality, they are spies. Their mission? Slow the reactions of the Germans. Her mission is cut...short, when her mom is captured by the Nazis. Now, Samira has two missions: Get her mom, and notify the French (the French French, not the Nazis).
Henry is a medic. He was going to be a officer, but with the segregation of the troops, it seems to Henry that he would have a better chance playing for the Dodgers than becoming a officer. While Dee, Samira, and James are fighting for the freedom of France, Henry is fighting another battle. The battle between his comrades life--or death.
Target age/what I think: With switching third person narratives, ironic sub-plots, and much, much more, Alan Gratz delivers a great book once again. I think anyone who wants to learn more about World War Two—specifically D-day and the impact afterwards—would be perfect. I also think anyone with an interest in military history will enjoy this as well. A fair warning, though: as with most books or movies set in wars, there is some amount of violence. Gratz is amazing at describing things without making it gory or hard to read.

Star Wars: attack of the clones was directed by George Lucas in 2002. I believe this book would fall in the category of space fiction. This is no doubt one of my favorite Star wars books, right next to Revenge of The Sith. This book goes through the clone wars and Padme and Anakin's relationship and how they feel about each other. This book also gives us our first look at how many Jedi there really are I chose this specific book because I love Star wars and everything about it. I would say if you like fiction and action books this one is right up your alley. I really enjoyed this book and hope you give it a try.

The book tells the true tale of a Slovakian Jew named Lale Sokolov. It is quite accurate in its facts though some events are made up and some true events are exaggerated to make the story more interesting. After his arrival at the Auschwitz Concentration Camp Lale is tasked to tattoo a number on each Jewish prisoner to keep track of them. It tells the tale of their lives there to excruciating detail, from the smell, to the sights, to the weak soup they are served. After spending sometime in the camp, Lale decides that he must escape. He scouts out the camp and after some planning, escapes. Though he is soon caught, he hides the fact that he is Jewish and the Germans suspect that he is escaped POW and take him to a normal prison. He finds that this standard prison is much better than concentration camp, but nonetheless escapes again. He then is found by Soviet soldiers and they hire Lale because he knows many languages. He then escapes again and returns to his home.
