Risk of Judicial Error: The legal system is not perfect, so there is a possibility that innocent people could be sentenced to death. This is one of the strongest reasons cited by opponents of the death penalty.

2. Does Not Reduce Crime: Studies show that the death penalty does not significantly lower crime rates compared to life imprisonment.

3. Violation of Human Rights: The death penalty is considered a violation of the right to life, which is a fundamental human right. Several human rights organizations oppose it based on this principle.

I agree that the death penalty, Although the death penalty has its flaws, it remains a form of justice for victims' families and acts as a deterrent to serious crimes. The high costs and lengthy legal processes show caution in ensuring only the guilty are punished. Many Americans still support the death penalty as a legitimate way to uphold justice and security. Abolishing it won't necessarily solve inequality in the justice system, and the U.S. has the right to determine its own punishments.

If an error occurs in the legal process, an innocent person could lose their life without the opportunity to correct the error. This video highlights deep problems rooted in history and systems, including racial discrimination and arbitrary enforcement, that continue to plague the justice system. The financial burden of the death penalty compared with life imprisonment, together with the high probability of errors in sentencing, further emphasizes the ineffectiveness and inhumanity of this punishment. Moreover, the argument that the death penalty serves as a form of revenge rather than true justice is compelling. Given these factors, it is important for society to reevaluate the morality and effectiveness of the death penalty and consider its implications for human rights and justice.

I agree that the death penalty should be considered for serious crimes such as premeditated murder or terrorism, where the act demonstrates extreme malice and has caused deep suffering to the victim and his family. In these cases, the death penalty can be seen as a form of justice and protection for society. Law enforcement should be able to provide sanctions commensurate with the severity of the act, and in this context, the death penalty may be deemed necessary to demonstrate that heinous acts will not be tolerated.

However, I do not agree with applying the death penalty to lesser crimes or those that do not involve direct violence against another person. For example, offenses such as theft or drug use should not be punished with the death penalty. This is because these crimes are often influenced by social, economic, or mental health factors, which are better addressed through rehabilitation rather than extreme punishment. Punishing with the death penalty in such cases is not only disproportionate, but also reflects an overly harsh and inhumane approach to a more complex problem.

Therefore, it is important to have clear boundaries regarding crimes that are worthy of the death penalty. Justice is not only about retribution, but also about understanding the context behind each criminal act and seeking more humane and effective solutions.

I agree with the death penalty in certain situations, especially for heinous crimes like premeditated murder and terrorism. The death penalty can provide a sense of justice and closure for the victim’s family, as well as acknowledge the severity of the crime. Additionally, it has the potential to deter would-be criminals from committing similar acts, thereby reducing the rate of serious crimes. By executing dangerous offenders, society is also protected from the possibility of the criminal committing further offenses. In cases where guilt is proven beyond doubt, the death penalty can be a swift and final solution compared to life imprisonment, which requires significant costs and resources. Many people believe in the concept of “an eye for an eye,” where the punishment should match the crime committed. Therefore, in cases of extreme cruelty, the death penalty is seen as a proportionate and just retribution to balance the criminal act.

I agree with the application of the death penalty in certain cases, especially for serious crimes such as premeditated murder and terrorism, because it can provide a sense of justice for the families of victims who have lost loved ones. The death penalty also protects society by ensuring the perpetrator cannot commit similar crimes in the future and can serve as a deterrent, although evidence on this varies. Economically, the death penalty may be more profitable than life in prison, which requires long-term care costs. Moreover, justice was supposed to be proportionate to the crime, and in cases of extreme cruelty, the death penalty was considered just retribution. With strict court procedures and protection of human rights, the death penalty can be seen as a legitimate measure to uphold justice.

They believe that for perpetrators of particularly destructive crimes, the death penalty is the only way to provide a sense of justice to victims and their families. It can be seen as a strong and clear action to make sure justice is served, especially for the victims and their families in serious cases like planned murder. By using this punishment, the state shows that it takes such crimes seriously and wants to make sure there are strong consequences for those who commit them. The death penalty can also act as a warning to others, making people think twice before doing similar crimes because they know the serious risks involved. It also shows that the government is committed to protecting its people and keeping order, helping everyone feel safe and secure. By taking this firm action, the state sends a message that it is dedicated to upholding the law and making sure people can live without fear of these types of crimes happening.

I agree with the critique of the death penalty. Its origins in systems of control, and its historical misuse against marginalized communities, make it a practice that raises serious ethical concerns. The irreversible nature of executions, particularly when there’s a risk of wrongful convictions, adds to the argument that it is fundamentally flawed. Furthermore, the fact that many other developed nations have moved away from capital punishment highlights the backwardness of its continued use in the U.S.

The death penalty does not serve as an effective deterrent, and its application often reflects racial and economic disparities rather than justice. By clinging to this outdated practice, America undermines its commitment to human rights and a fair legal system. Abolishing the death penalty would be a step toward addressing the systemic inequities that have long plagued the country’s criminal justice system.

I agree with the death penalty in cases where the crimes committed are exceptionally brutal, such as premeditated murder, terrorism, or crimes against humanity. In such situations, the death penalty is seen as a form of justice that is appropriate and balanced with the level of cruelty carried out by the perpetrator. This punishment not only reflects justice for the victims and their families, but also reinforces that there are serious consequences for actions that violate the fundamental rights of others.

I also believe that the death penalty can serve as a deterrent, preventing others from committing similar crimes because they know that the harshest punishment awaits them. Although not everyone believes in this deterrent effect, for me, the existence of the death penalty demonstrates that the state is firm in protecting its citizens from serious threats. Additionally, in certain cases, the death penalty provides an extra sense of security, ensuring that the perpetrator will never have the opportunity to commit crimes again, whether inside prison or after their sentence is completed.

The death penalty, in my view, can also offer a sense of closure or relief for the victims' families, knowing that the person responsible for their suffering will not return to society. While not all victims’ families feel the same way, for some, knowing that justice has been fully served is important for the healing process.

I agree about the death penalty in specific and extreme cases because it represents the ultimate form of accountability for individuals who commit the most heinous crimes. When a person takes another life in a premeditated or particularly violent way, they have forfeited their right to live within society. The death penalty, in this context, is not just about punishment but also about protecting the community from individuals who pose an ongoing threat, even in prison.

In my view, the death penalty provides a form of justice that life imprisonment cannot fully achieve. For the victims and their families, knowing that the person responsible for such devastating loss will never harm anyone again can bring a sense of closure and peace. It also reinforces the idea that certain crimes are so severe that society must respond with its strongest consequence.

Moreover, while debates about its deterrent effect continue, I believe that the death penalty does serve as a warning to potential offenders, reminding them that some actions carry irreversible consequences. Although it should be applied carefully and in the rarest cases, I think the death penalty remains an essential option for ensuring justice and public safety in our legal system.
