Book : FAR FROM THE MADDING CROWD

AUTHOR :THOMAS HARDY

CHARACTERS: BATHSHEBA EVERDANE, GABRIEL OAK, WILLIAM BOLDWOOD, FANNY ROBIN, SGT.FRANCIS TROY.

Review:

I read this book on my summer vacation, this book is one of my favourite books I have read.

This book is the story of a farmer called Gabriel Oak. Gabriel Oak is one of the main characters in this book.

Far from the Madding Crowd is a classic novel by Thomas Hardy that tells the story of love, choices, and consequences set in the English countryside.

The story follows Bathsheba Everdene, a strong and independent woman who inherits a farm. She is admired by three very different men:

Gabriel Oak – kind, loyal, and hardworking

Sergeant Troy – attractive but irresponsible

William Boldwood – serious and reserved

The novel shows how Bathsheba’s decisions affect her life and the lives of others.

It’s a thoughtful and emotional story about love, pride, and responsibility. The message shows that true love is often steady and patient, not dramatic.

SAYANORA SAJEESH OF CLASS 7C.

Suddenly, he saw a water pot in a garden. He flew straight down to see if there was any water inside. Yes, he could see some water, but the water level was very low and his beak could not reach it.

He thought of a plan. He saw some small stones lying nearby. He started picking up the stones one by one and dropping them into the pot. As more stones filled the bottom, the water level slowly began to rise. Soon, the water was high enough for him to drink. The thirsty crow drank his fill and flew away happily.

Moral: Where there is a will, there is a way.

Each story is different and introduces unique characters and magical elements, which makes the book fun to read.

What I liked most about this book is how simple and easy the stories are, but they still have meaningful messages. Many of the stories teach values like kindness, honesty, and courage without being boring. It feels like you are reading stories told by elders, but in a more engaging way.

The book also gives a glimpse of our culture and traditions, which makes it both enjoyable and informative.

This is an amazing book written by author JK Rowling. In this book, Harry was kicked out of the house by his uncle and aunt. He walked along the dark streets of London. Suddenly, a three decker bus called the Knight bus stopped in front of him. He climbed on it and the bus stopped in front of the leaky cauldron, a place connecting the Muggle world and the Wizarding world. There, he saw his friends Ron and Hermione. They were discussing about Sirius Black, who broke out of the azkaban prison. Harry faced numerous attacks by the dementors, creatures who guard the azkaban. Their suck human's soul which is a dreadful situation. Later, Harry discovered that Sirius Black, the person who broke out of the azkaban prison was one of his father's best friends, often referred to as Harry's Godfather. I enjoyed this book very much.

ISHANVI R

VIII A

Book - Tales from Not-So-Fabulous Life

Author - Rachel Renèe Russell

Summary -

Tales from a Not-So-Fabulous Life is a really fun and relatable story about Nikki Maxwell, a girl who joins a new school and tries to adjust to everything around her. She writes about her daily life in her diary, including her problems with school, friends, and the popular girls.

What I liked most about this book is how funny and real it feels. Nikki goes through a lot of embarrassing and awkward situations, but that’s what makes it so enjoyable. It feels like something that could actually happen in real life. The little drawings and doodles in the book also make it more interesting and fun to read.

I also liked how the story shows the importance of friendship and being yourself. Even when things don’t go her way, Nikki learns to deal with them in her own way.

Overall, I enjoyed this book a lot. Harry saves him but he was sent to the ministry of magic for performing the magic in front of a non-magical person. Harry was about to be expelled from Hogwarts but Dumbledore, the headmaster of Hogwarts convinced the ministry that Harry was innocent and was trying to save Dudley. The ministry was convinced. Harry tried to thank Dumbledore, but strangely, he got away from Harry. In Hogwarts, again Dumbledore was trying to escape from him. Voldemort was trying to attack Hogwarts but Dumbledore was not at all worried. So, Harry made a team called the "Dumbledore 's army" and he trained the students how to defend themselves and the Hogwarts. In the middle of that, Sirius Black (Harry's Godfather) was killed by Bellatrix Lestrange, a follower of lord Voldemort.

This book is filled with adventure and I really enjoyed this book.

ISHANVI R

VIII A

This is a beautiful book by JK Rowling. In Harry Potter's sixth year at Hogwarts, he finds an old potion book belonging to the "Half-Blood Prince" that helps him succeed in class. Dumbledore gives Harry private lessons exploring Voldemort's past named Tom Marvolo Riddle, revealing he hid pieces of his soul in objects called Horcruxes to become immortal. Meanwhile, Draco Malfoy acts suspiciously. The story ends with a major battle where Snape kills Dumbledore. After Dumbledore's death, Professor McGonagall was the headmistress of Hogwarts. Harry aims to destroy the remaining Horcruxes, leaving school to finish Dumbledore’s mission with Ron and Hermione. Harry also reveals that the "Half-Blood Prince" is Professor Severus Snape, who killed Dumbledore.

I love this book and I learned many things from it.

ISHANVI R

VIII A

This is the final book of Harry Potter series by JK Rowling. After Dumbledore’s death, Harry, Ron, and Hermione leave Hogwarts to hunt down Voldemort’s remaining Horcruxes, magical objects hiding parts of his soul that keep him immortal. While killing Death Eaters and a Ministry of Magic controlled by Voldemort, they discover the legend of the Deathly Hallows: the Elder Wand, the Resurrection Stone, and the Invisibility Cloak. Their search leads them to break into Gringotts for Hufflepuff’s cup, return to Hogwarts for Ravenclaw’s diadem, and learn that Harry himself is a Horcrux. Snape’s memories reveal he was protecting Harry all along out of love fo, and that Dumbledore planned his own death. During the Battle of Hogwarts, Voldemort kills Harry, but Harry survives because Voldemort took his blood and made him to life. He chooses to return, and in their final duel the Elder Wand refuses to kill its true master, Harry, causing Voldemort’s curse to rebound and destroy him.

"The Cherry Tree" is a short story by Ruskin Bond about a boy named Rakesh who plants a cherry seed in his grandfather's garden in Mussoorie. Though the sapling struggles at first and is damaged by a goat, grass cutters, and harsh monsoon rains, Rakesh patiently cares for it. Over the years, both Rakesh and the tree grow despite setbacks. One day, he suddenly notices the tree has grown tall and is covered with blossoms. The story highlights themes of resilience, patience, and the quiet joy of nurturing nature, showing how small efforts and time can lead to something beautiful and strong. Also, this story teaches us to be patient. I enjoyed this book and I have read this many times.

ISHANVI R

VIII A

Title: Five Go to Smuggler’s Top

Author: Enid Blyton

Genre: Children's Fiction

Enid Blyton was born on 11 August 1897. She is one of the most popular authors, and her most popular books are Noddy, Famous Five, Secret Seven, The Five Find-Outers, and Malory Towers, although she wrote many others, including St Clare’s, The Naughtiest Girl, and The Faraway Tree series.

Five Go to Smuggler's Top is the fourth book in the Famous Five series by the British author Enid Blyton.

In this book, there are three siblings called Julian, Dick, and Anne. They also have a cousin called Georgina, who goes by the name George. She also has a mongrel dog called Timothy.

Timothy was a very clever, sensitive, and brave dog. He and the other four used to go on thrilling and dangerous adventures, and today they were going to George’s home, Kirrin Cottage. They had lots of adventures on George’s very own island, Kirrin Island.

George’s father, Uncle Quentin, had decided that they should go to Smuggler’s Top. Mr Lenoir didn’t like dogs, so the four had to hide Timmy. There were many underground secret passages, and the Five think that there is something wrong going on there. Uncle Quentin and Sooty get kidnapped, but the Five find them, and the rest of the story ends happily. I love this book very much.

The members are Janet, Jack, Colin, George, Pam, and Barbara, and their dog Scamper. One night, Jack sees strange men acting suspiciously near an old empty house while looking for his lost badge. He tells the Secret Seven, and they decide to investigate. The children watch the house and find out the men are thieves hiding stolen goods there. The club makes a clever plan to catch them. They send messages, keep watch, and finally call the police at the right time. The thieves are caught, and the Secret Seven are praised for being brave and smart. The story shows teamwork, courage, and how children can solve mysteries when they work together. Along the way, he also encounters Kaa, the hypnotic rock python, and various other jungle inhabitants.

Review

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)

The Jungle Book remains an absolute masterpiece of children's literature. What makes Kipling's world so magical is the brilliant personification of the animals—they aren't just wild beasts; they live by a structured, honorable code of ethics.

The story beautifully explores themes of identity, belonging, and the relationship between humanity and nature. While younger audiences love the thrill of Mowgli's adventures and the humor provided by Baloo, older readers can appreciate the deeper coming-of-age journey as Mowgli torn between the animal world that raised him and the human world where he naturally belongs. It is a timeless, action-packed, and emotionally resonant story for all generations.

Aladdin & the Magic Lamp

Book Overview

Original Author: Hanna Diyab

Book Name: Aladdin & the Magic Lamp

Story Summary

Set in an exotic, ancient city, the story follows Aladdin, a poor, mischievous street youth. He is recruited by a wicked sorcerer to retrieve an old oil lamp from a dangerous, magical cave. After being trapped inside, Aladdin accidentally rubs the lamp, releasing a powerful Genie who must grant his every wish. With his newfound wealth and magical assistance, Aladdin wins the heart of the beautiful Princess, but he must soon use his wit and courage to defend his love and fortune when the evil sorcerer returns to steal the lamp back.

Review

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4.5/5)

Aladdin & the Magic Lamp is the ultimate rags-to-riches fairy tale. It is packed with fantasy, suspense, and iconic imagery—from the mysterious cave of wonders to the grand illusions crafted by the Genie.

The book is an incredibly entertaining read because it serves as a moral lesson on greed, humility, and cleverness. Unlike modern animated versions, the original folk tale actually features two different genies and shows Aladdin relying heavily on his own street-smart intellect rather than just magic to defeat his enemies. It is a thrilling, fast-paced tale that wonderfully captures the imagination and teaches readers that true character matters far more than inherited wealth

Wow… just wow. The best arc by far, entirely gripping from beginning to end, with so many twists and turns, characters, fights, and surprises. Even though I had already read through this arc with the manga, I was still astounded by how good it was in the anime, and watching it through was like re-living the experience all over again. I didn’t think I was going to cry… I told myself not to cry… but I did.

Book Review

Book Name: Thenali Raman and the Thieves
Retold by: Kanakaraghavan

Thenali Raman and the Thieves is an interesting and funny story book for children. It tells one of the clever stories of Thenali Raman, who was a wise poet and advisor in King Krishnadevaraya’s court. In this story, thieves try to steal from Thenali Raman’s house, but he uses his intelligence to trick them and protect his belongings.

I liked this book because the story is simple, humorous, and teaches us to use our brains wisely during difficult situations. The pictures in the book are colorful and attractive, which makes reading more enjoyable for students.

The language of the book is easy to understand for children. The story also gives a moral lesson that intelligence is more powerful than strength.

My favourite character is Thenali Raman because he is smart, calm, and witty.

J.K. Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is a thrilling, darker pivot for the series that masterfully balances teenage drama with high-stakes magic. As Harry navigates the dangerous Triwizard Tournament, the narrative successfully broadens the wizarding world. The introduction of international magical schools adds rich depth, while the devastating climax officially shatters any lingering childhood innocence.

Rowling expertly weaves complex themes of prejudice, grief, and budding romance into a gripping mystery. Though slightly bloated in its mid-section, this installment’s emotional resonance and cinematic action sequences make it an unforgettable, pivotal read.
