At first, I wasn’t frightened.  It was just a storm.

However, then I heard a sound INSIDE the house. The stairs was creaking outside my bedroom door. Was somebody there?  Was somebody coming up?

I got out of bed and tiptoed to the door.  I looked out carefully.  There was nobody there.  I walked down the stairs very quietly.  The light was on in the kitchen.

Had somebody broken into the house?  Was it a thief, a murderer?

No, it was just my little brother who had woken in the storm and had come down to get a glass of milk.
