I was working a summer job in Canary Wharf, calling traders to sell trading advice. In the middle of a routine call, one trader paused and said, “I’m not sure if you know what’s happening right now…” The next thing I knew my boss called and asked if I was scared... I went home immediately as the financial center of London went into lockdown. I remember walking out in a kind of disbelief. There was this strange, heavy unsettled feeling in the air. Something terrible had just begun, and we didn’t yet understand how close it might be.

I was on my way to school in New York and listening to Howard Stern on the radio. Suddenly they started reporting what had happened with the first tower, shaken and speculating. I stopped and kept listening. Then the second. I turned around and went to a friend’s place to watch the news for the entire day, skipping school. No one noticed. We were all in shock.

I was in my hospice care rotation in Nursing school in Plattsburgh NY "North Country", we were visiting a pt in care unit with a huge tv in the patients lounge, one of the patients pointed out that a plane had just hit the WTC, and it was on the news, just as we turned to look we watched the second one hit, it was unbelievable. We continued our day visiting hospice patients till my instructor got a notice that school was closed. I contacted a friend who's uncle worked in the city, he was missing so I went to stay with her. It took them 2 weeks to find him, alive but unconscious, in a NY hospital. Many people from our area went into the city for work.

I was a flight attendant back then on my way from Amsterdam to the US. We were just about to start our Atlantic crossing when we received a so-called: " all crew call". The captain informed us that we needed to return and especially not giving any specific information to the passengers. Upon arrival we were debriefed of what had happened. I lost 2 of my best friends who were working in Tower 1.

I was on my way to NYC that day on a KLM flight from Amsterdam to JFK. A business trip. We had just flown past Shannon Airport, ready to cross the ocean, when the plane unexplicably turned around and headed back to Schiphol. The captain explained that he had been recalled but did not know why. He did but had wisely decided not to inform us. We only found out once we deplaned at Schiphol and saw the news on every TV Screeb monitor as we walked toward the exit. shell shocked. One good thing came out of that day. I purchased a pair of beautiful Ferragamo's (shoes) at the duty free shop before departure. Every time I put them on, I remembered that day.

I was passed out asleep because I had done a comedy show the night before and started out with friends. I received a message saying I needed to call a club in Austin, Texas Abbott a booking.

When I awoke on 9/11, I immediately called the Austin club before doing anything. After the phone range for a very long time, somebody answered sounding quite stressed. I explained who I was and why I was calling. There was a long pause and she said, "I'm sorry. I can't talk now with everything going on." Embarrassingly, I was still in the dark about it all and replied, "That's fine. I know how Austin can be."

Later, after apologizing profusely, she told me that she had received many calls that morning from comics asking if they could replace any comics who couldn't make it because of 9/11. She knew I wasn't one of those vultures.

Later, I spent the evening with my sketch comedy troupe/friends just trying to understand it all.

I was at home, day trading so had the TV on. When I saw what was going on, I wanted to go to New York, to help. I couldn't fly, no one could, but could

have driven there, 1500 miles, but couldn't justify that, because the City asked folks not to come. Too much confusion.

Later I saw this show in New York City with good friends; we were moved.
