Hi everyone! My name is Rachel :) A little bit about me is that I previously attended RCC and obtained my associates degree studying exercise science, as I thought I wanted to become an athletic trainer. I recently was instead inspired to become a teacher, so here I am! Some of my hobbies include working out, thrifting, and playing with my two (somewhat) sweet cats, Phoebe and Ophelia. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Hello class! Again my name is Josef and I am your instructor for EDS 340. I am originally from Ohio and attended Ohio University. I joined the Peace Corps in 2006 (after I graduated). I have lived in New York for the past fourteen years. I enjoy working out, running, reading, hiking, and spending time with my family (I have two boys ages 8 and 1 1/2). I always wanted to be a teacher and love working with students at all levels and ages. I look forward to meeting everyone and if you ever have a problem or question don't hesitate to ask. And FYI this picture is from Hawai'i where some of my wife's family lives and where I did my doctoral research.

Hey all! I'm Bryan and I'm from Rockland County. I'm a General Studies student part time. I'm a huge fan of the outdoors including fishing, hiking, and riding my motorcycle. I also like to read, hit the gym, and find the best local spots for tacos! I just got home from the Air Force where I was a medic and am now in the Air National Guard trying to be a firefighter with plans to be a pilot down the line. (I know thats a lot) I also work as an EMT right now as my normal job even though you may be wondering where I have time. I am an English major, but I am in the process of changing that to an Adolescent English Education major. Hiya! I'm T.

I run the software engineering team at a genetic research company and am coming back to school to learn more about the earth! I’m thinking about designing my own major that’ll be a mix of the environment, journalism, and creative writing.

The last line of the course description, “the study of education as a social practice” is why I enrolled! I’m hoping this class will help me think more deeply about how people learn, what’s valuable to them, and what factors have influenced my own schooling/education. I’m also taking this class for my future children - to better understand what schooling options exist, what’s effective, and what’s fun!
