Post 1 pt 2: How do you implement one of these standards in your classroom

Standard: 3-5.CD.1 Demonstrate proficiency with keyboards and other input and output devices. - - One way I would implement this standard in my class is to have keyboard quizzes each week. Since all of my students have a classroom netbook, I would put them into small teams of three or four. I would display one word at a time on the board and each team members goes individually to see who types the word the fastest, going against the other teams. As the year progresses, the words go from short to longer and more challenging.
3-5.IC.2 Identify the impact of technology (e.g., social networking, cyber bullying, mobile computing and communication, web technologies, cyber security, and virtualization) on personal life and society.

3-5.NC.2 Use productivity technology tools (e.g., word processing, spreadsheet, presentation software) for individual and collaborative writing, communication, and publishing activities.

- I would combine standards 3-5.IC.2 and 3-5.NC.2 by placing students into small groups, assigning each student the task to research what the different types of bullying are, email their research findings to the rest of their team, and they together create a Prezi that they will present to the class.

I found the symbalooEDU a useful tool that I could use right now. This tool would be very helpful because in my school, we are big on team collaboration and since we currently use the same lesson plans, this would be a quicker and effective way to share lesson ideas with one another each week.

"PINTEREST IS MY LIFE!"
I use pinterest quite frequently. Whenever I speak to other people about it, I typically incorporate my beginning quote into the converstaion. I find many useful tools varying from worksheets to crafts to activities and much more that I use in my classroom. Looking through the Indiana eLearning Pinterest page, I would be willing to follow this board and gain helpful ideas as well as be able to add ideas of my own for others to use.

I believe that occasionally using social media sites like Instagram or Facebook can allow educators to post photos and videos about different lesson or activities that they found useful within their classroom. I have actually used activities that I found on Facebook in my classroom this year. If you search for the right thing, you will find more than enough ideas that you can use in your own classroom.

A new media instructional tool that I would implement in my class is the NBC learn website. I would be able to use this site for Social Studies to keep my students abreast of current events. This site would be great to use because NBC aligns their postings to state standards.
