It's amazing how artificial intelligence can help guide patients in the right direction when it comes to understanding their symptoms and potential diagnoses. Many individuals struggle with accessing insurance and may prefer using tools like ADA (AI chatbot) for initial guidance if they feel their symptoms aren't urgent enough to seek immediate professional care. IBM Watson AI is used to improve healthcare by responding quickly to medical questions. This is interesting to me because I think it's important to acknowledge that having access to information within seconds helps improve patient care, while also educating patients in detail about potential diagnoses. Artificial intelligence, such as Tempus, has given medical professionals insight when treating individuals with specific treatments specialized for each person. It is also essential to know that AI chatbots can give inaccurate or misleading medical advice, so their use needs to be properly regulated. Medical providers should apply the knowledge they gained in medical school when using technology in healthcare.

The future of artificial intelligence will continue to grow, becoming more accurate and personalized. AI will continue to assist medical providers in managing different diagnoses and improving patient outcomes (PMC). According to PMC, providers must establish the necessary knowledge and expertise to interpret and apply rules to datasets. This will ensure accurate computing power. Making judgments in context also requires having the ability to process and understand. Ethics should continue to be a focus when implementing AI in healthcare. Given the importance of patient data, we must ensure it is kept secure and private. AI systems need to be examined for bias, as they may inadvertently favor certain groups, resulting in unfair outcomes. We must ensure that AI does not replace medical staff, but rather helps improve patient care and allows professionals to apply their expertise.

When I worked at a medical office, I was in charge of making appointments for patients. I noticed we had a new scheduling system preference called "Televisit." It allows patients to have one-on-one appointments with their doctor. Slowly, people then switched to this form of visit because many patients were older and suffering from neurological diseases, and they preferred to stay in the comfort of their home or nursing home. I do believe there will be more trends in Telehealth, and the system will continue to improve and add modifications.

SOCIETAL IMPACT

AI has made a big impact in healthcare, but some are concerned that it could lead to job displacement for medical staff. Jobs such as processing patient data, scheduling appointments, and analyzing medical images can now be completed by AI. For example, AI systems can review X-rays and MRIs much faster than an X-ray technician, potentially reducing the need for radiologists. Although AI can process results faster and perform tasks more quickly, it may also eliminate jobs like these. It is also important to consider privacy. AI systems handle sensitive patient data, which raises concerns about data security and potential breaches. In my opinion, while AI offers incredible potential to improve healthcare, we must address these societal concerns. Medical professionals, in my opinion, need to be very careful when trusting AI because there is always the possibility of error in a computer system. We must find strategies to ensure that AI is applied in a way that benefits all people, regardless of their socioeconomic background. This involves finding the ideal balance between advancements in technology and the social issues they bring.

During my research on AI and its impact on healthcare, I learned about AI systems like Ada, which allow patients to ask questions regarding their symptoms. This was surprising to me because, at times, I would Google certain symptoms to potentially diagnose myself, unaware that there is a system that could do this for me without needing to visit a clinic.

Some of the challenges I overcame while researching how AI has impacted healthcare include addressing my own biases. I understand that AI has benefited medicine, but I believe it's important to acknowledge that medical professionals should not rely solely on artificial intelligence. I think there needs to be a fine line in how patients interact with these systems. They shouldn't place their trust fully in AI without seeking professional help, especially when healthcare providers need to apply their knowledge in these areas. By doing more research into AI, I cannot deny it has positively impacted and helped with topics that doctors have trouble with. AI scored 90% accuracy compared to doctors, who averaged 76%. Researching this topic in detail makes me wonder how our technology will advance in the years to come. Knowing what I do now, it’s clear that AI has been accurate in diagnosing patients.
