I have never lived in an area afflicted by war. I have no real idea what it must be like. The closest to personal experience would be living through bomb threats during the 1970s / 80s in the UK. I don’t know how it feels to be under constant threat of injury, disempowerment, detention, torture, death.

What I do know is that everything is impermanent. Nothing stays the same. No sunrise is like any other, every wave, every tree, every cloud, every thought, motion, deed and interaction we have is unique.

When things are going badly, when the world is against you, when everything is going wrong, and nothing you can do is helping, I know that time will pass.

Everything changes, everything is in flux, nothing ever stays the same. Each breath you take has it’s own rise and it’s own fall and is unlike every other breath you have ever or will ever take.

This is not to say do nothing, just wait, this too will pass. We all must do our part, do what we can, control what we can control.

Peace is a consequence of multiple small actions.

Each time you smile at someone, offer a random act of kindness, each time you “pay it forward” the consequences of your actions have unknown impacts on others.

But still we know, whatever is happening right now, this too will pass.

Kia kaha, stay strong.

https://youtu.be/qybUFnY7Y8w

Jo Scott-Jones Aotearoa New Zealand.
