         <description><![CDATA[<div>There are two sides to this dilemma. One side wants to see students read engaging content that is meaningful to the student and their future. While another side wants students to read to the standard and prevent students from reading something they enjoy.I believe this divide has happened because one side wants to see reading levels increasing while the other side wants to see students enjoy reading and learn how to find the purpose of a book.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>In classrooms I have been in and classrooms I have worked in I have seen teachers have their students read the same books and work towards taking tests for a party. I was fortunate enough to enjoy every book that was put in front of me, unfortunately that was not the case for my peers. I noticed that teachers weren't having students read for fun and when my peers or students I worked with were given books they did not find meaning in, it made reading difficult.</div>]]></description>

         <title>How can we fix this?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Fixing this will take a lot of consideration of what schools believe is right in regards to reading. I think in order to fix it, schools need to learn that teaching students to love reading has a long term impact on a students ability to learn. When a student learns how to ask meaningful questions and find purpose in something they read it ignites a curiosity and need to read more and learn more. Allowing students to pick what they read can give them that independence they are searching for along with finding a deeper understanding for what they enjoy. </div>]]></description>

         <title>What do we need?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I think that wee need to suggest student interest, inclusion of cultural capital, variation of text, and the promotion of deeper understanding. We should not use programs. In my classrooms I do not want to use testing and parties for books my students do not want to read. I want my students to learn to love reading. To do this I want my students to read what interests them and read about topics that are meaningful and have purpose in their lives so they can use it in their future classes. I do not think I would be comfortable having to use a program I do not believe it and I will make sure that I will have the voice for my students to get the education they deserve. </div>]]></description>

         <title>Motivation/Curiosity or Traditional</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>I have always promoted curiosity in my students. When students have the ability to think about things they learn and gain motivation for what they enjoy, they become the ultimate learner. Inventors and Scientists did not create revolutionary devices and new ideas from sticking to traditions and not being curious and thinking outside of the box. Teaching students to shy away from tradition ables them to think about all of the possibilities their futures can hold and having the motivation to pursue it. In regards to reading, I want to motivate my students to read about what they enjoy and also read what they are curious about and motivate themselves to learn something new. Reading in a traditional sense doesn't lead to innovative thinkers but to habitual and uncreative thinkers. For&nbsp; this evolving society, it requires those who are willing to be motivated and curious.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>
