First they talk about what   stem cells are and how stem cells are helping save some people. Secondly the article talks about in what fields stem cell research takes place in and the limits governments put on how much each country can test stem cells. For example it talks about how in the U.S there are much more regulations to do with stem cells vs China or Korea. Lastly the article talks about how stem cells are currently being researched. It gives  specific examples on how  two scientists are using stem cells in there work to help or try to cure people. In my opinion this source is somewhat neutral in its view but may be leaning slightly toward pro stem cell research. I think the position of the article is influenced a bit because it is on a scientific news site and these tend to have a more biased views towards non conservative or "less ethical views".</div>]]></description>

Some of the main questions answered in this article were the differences between certain types of stem cells, should people continue to research about stem cells, and have there been any successful application of stem cell research. One of the main points that I found interesting about stem cells are that there were initially only two main types of stem cells. There are adult stem cells which are undifferentiated cells that only have the potential to become a limited number of specific cell types. And also embryonic stem cells which are<strong> </strong>primitive undifferentiated cells that have the potential to become a wide variety of specialized cell types. Then recently there has been an addition of induced pluripotent stem cells. These are<strong> </strong>adult cells that were previously considered to have limited numbers of cells types that have now been genetically reprogrammed to be like an embryonic stem cell and be able to have a wider variety of cell types.<strong><br></strong><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><a href="https://www.sciencenewsforstudents.org/article/stem-cells-secret-change">https://www.sciencenewsforstudents.org/article/stem-cells-secret-change</a><br><br>This article is summarized in two parts. The first part is about our body and why stem cell show so much potential to help humans in all kinds of fields. It specifically shows how our body is limited in some capacities like cell recreation and how stem cells could change that. The second part of the factoid is about three specific examples of how stem cells can be used in totally different ways. First, the example given is how stem cells are used to mimic diseases so scientists can improve their understanding and treat the disease better. The second example was how stem cells from eyes can be transplanted onto other eyes to replace lost cells. The last and most interesting way in my opinion that stem cells are used was an example of how cells from one part of the body can be used to help completely unrelated parts, like using nasal cells to repair spinal cord nerve cells. While I think this source is relatively unbiased it may be in favor for stem cell research because it is a scientific site.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><a href="http://discovermagazine.com/2019/may/human-cloning">http://discovermagazine.com/2019/may/human-cloning</a><br><br>This article was very interesting to me. I looked it up on the sub topic of cloning and what it has to with stem cells. It turns out cloning has long been possible with animals and humans. I knew that Dolly the sheep was the first cloned animal, but I did not know that she was actually cloned with stem cells. The article gives a quick break down on how cloning is possible. First you must take skin cells from an adult animal and take an egg cell with no nucleus. Then stimulate growth by zapping it with an electrical pulse to cause the egg and cell to fuse then divide. After a few days there will be embryonic stem cells. Implant this into a mother and it will bear the child of the clone. This article also speaks about the ethics of cloning and some of the reasons behind why we do it. Right now cloning is mostly used for farm animals and getting desirable traits for agricultural purposes.<br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><a href="https://www.nytimes.com/2019/08/29/science/organoids-brain-alysson-muotri.html?searchResultPosition=1">https://www.nytimes.com/2019/08/29/science/organoids-brain-alysson-muotri.html?searchResultPosition=1</a><br>This article is about stem cells and one of their specific uses being researched and used right now. A summary of the findings in the study was at first the creation of an organelle brain derived from stem cells. This is no ordinary brain however because it is made up of skin cells induced into a brain that are actually giving off brain waves similar to premature babies. The question the scientific world is asking is if these organelle brains will ever be able to self-develop and produce thoughts like a human, or develop into a conscious being. The second half of this article is about the practical uses of this brain experiment. The brains in these experiments are nurtured and created from stem cells to specifically research diseases like autism and other hereditary disease. From studying these brains scientists hope to accelerate further research by using the stem cell induced organelle brains as models easily accessible to all scientists through mass production. The growth of the brain cells can also be studied to help understand some specific diseases. <br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><a href="https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/12/191204144855.htm">https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2019/12/191204144855.htm</a><br>This article is about stem cells recently used to create tracheal tissues using bio printing. This is an example of some of the positive uses of stem cells that is very unique. In the same way that 3-D printers create art and plastic structures, this bio printing allows for multiple layers of muscle and tissue to be created using stem cells and bio gels to stimulate the growth of the cells. The 3-D part of this printing is what makes this a very interesting discovery. While there are more components to the process like medical imaging and polyester scaffolding, stem cells are what make this possible.  Now scientists are looking at the long term effects of the procedure to make sure the appropriate tissue formation and strengthening occurs. <br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><a href="http://med.stanford.edu/news/all-news/2019/11/omega-3-fatty-acids-health-benefit-linked-to-stem-cell-control.html">http://med.stanford.edu/news/all-news/2019/11/omega-3-fatty-acids-health-benefit-linked-to-stem-cell-control.html</a><br>This is an example of a use of stem cells that most people probably would agree is for good.  Fat stem cells in this experiment are induced in order for researches to look at a disease affecting receptors on the cell. The fat stem cells divided in this experiment when they met the receptor, which was a solution to the problem because large fat cells are related to problems such as diabetes and inflammation. These stem cells provided a model to help understand this process more. This article is by Stanford medicine so I think it is more of a scientific journal, which I think leads to less bias.  <br><br><br></div>]]></description>

One of the hard parts of ALS is that it is very hard to diagnose it. Scientists used Stem cells to mimicked the way that neurons in people with ASL would work with their proteins.
