Jack is chosen as the leader of the boys as he leads them when hunting. “‘Kill the pig! Cut his throat! Kill the Pig! Bash him in!’”(Golding 104). Jack has lost the true meaning of the purpose for hunting. He finds violence to be normal when doing those things to pigs and the boys begin to think that it is okay as well. Through those actions, Jack is once again responsible for the downfall of the Island Society.

When Jack is sorting out role, he states the need for hunters. Although he uses the word army, giving it a more emphasis on killing the pigs rather than also prioritizing other roles that are as important.
