I used straight lines to make the snowflakes and curved ones to make the wheat and snow drifts. I used value to make the sunset and give the wheat some depth. I used movement to move the viewer's eyes from the front to the back and left to right so it ends up on the poem. The meaning is ment to show the charm of nature. This is portrayed through the sunlight reflecting off the snow and snowflakes falling. I wrote the poem on a white background so its readable, I hand wrote it but used cursive to help convey the flow of the snow. The strongest part of the piece is the sunset. If I were to do this again I would write the poem bigger because it can be hard to read from a distance.

I used stippling and hatching in my trail, and cross hatching in my pond. They work together because they make the art look more interesting and textured. The meaning behind my work is that my dog loved the fall time because we used to go out to the woods and hunt and walk the trails while looking at all the leaves changing on the trees. She would like to come lay under my blanket and watch movies with me. I think the viewer would know because of the trees changing colors. My text is readable. I used a cursive type of font instead of handwriting. My text is readable. I used a cursive type of font instead of handwriting. My strongest piece of my art is the trees. That took the longest to color and use the terpenoid. If I could change one thing about my project is the pond. I would change it to be blue and not a blue-purple.

In my piece of art I used lines to create the window and the wind. Lines also helped build both my geometric shape like the window and the charging port but also the synthetic shapes used as thought bubbles. I used a cool color palate with a contrasting warm fall theme. The only texture I used was terpenoid and I did not use form. Although I didn't use form I did show space by overlapping the thought bubbles and the window. in this piece I showed movement in the wind carrying the leaves and by moving the audiences eyes with the thought bubbles. I also used the leaves and the wind as a pattern. Movement and rhythm are really close to each other so the rhythm in my piece is the repetitive white thought bubble moving the audiences eyes. The dreaming bubbles and the night in the window as well as the darker wall show unity because they all make sense together. I used the window in the background to help balance out the big dream of a fall day. I kept the background nice and calm to help emphasize the window and dream bubbles. The meaning of my art is that fall is like a dream to me. There are the beautiful leaves changing color as well as the crisp wind. The audience knows this by the dream bubbles with the cool colored wind and the warm leaves that changed colors. I believe that the text is readable. I printed the text using the normal Arial font. The strongest part of my art is the dream bubble with the fall theme because it was the contrasting warm and cool colors. If I did this project again I would add more things in the window and make the font more interesting.

Throughout my art, I used various principles and elements of art. When including the element of value and the principle of space, I demonstrated these in the waves. The closer the wave was to the front of my art, the brighter I made the color. To show a wave further back, I had other waves and my focal point, the boat, in front of the wave and painted it a darker shade of my original blue. I made the lighting that was further away more faded and thinner than the ones actually in the storm rather than further in the background. I added visual movement by adding the splashes of the waves as the boat crashed into them to show the roughness of the waves and the storm going on in the art. I added different shapes within the boat and various lines with the waves, and lightning strikes. There is texture added within the clouds and I did this by using a sponge and dabbing the black paint on to add a fluffy visual texture instead of painting them solid with a brush. I made sure there was balance and unity by making sure the storm was carried throughout the entire scene and on both sides of my focal point and emphasis of my boat. The unity of my art is shown my the colors that go along with the weather in my scene. I used a monochromatic color scheme including the different shades and tints of blues. When i think of dark colors, I think of storms, messes and negativity so really wanted that to get carried into my art to get the meaning across. For my hiaku, i wrote, “The ocean feels safe, the loud crashes of the waves shields me far away.” To demonstrate the stress and feeling the need of escape, I painted a very rough, harsh, and dreadful storm in my scene. This storm demonstrates the hard times in life and even while being in your “safe place” there can still be a mess but things can still be okay. the ocean is my favorite place to be and the structure of the boat shows the safety and security it gives me even while life is hard. The boat is rocking in the waves but it is still okay and will make it through the storm and that’s what I try to think of when applying it to life. For my font of the haiku, I tried to find a wavy one but also still enough to show the calmness of the boat. My font is readable and and in the middle of my art to catch the viewers eyes. I put the poem on my focal point to ensure the viewer would see it and understand the meaning in the best way it could be interpreted. The strongest part of my art, is the way I incorporated space and used different types of value to really show the depth of my scene. If i were to do this project again, I would have the moon shine a light onto the boat to get the meaning across easier to show that even during hard times there is still faith and hope to be applied.

I used pattern with the leaves, and with the branches on the tree. I also used line with the branches and the circle of colors around the text. The circle is supposed to bring attention to the poem. I did this drawing because I like fall and like when the leaves are blowing around. The viewer would see that the leaves are falling and there are fall colors, the poem mentions the leaves falling as well. The poem is readable, i printed out the text in a wavy font. I think the tree is the strongest part of the drawing. If i were to make this again i would change the color and position of the bench, because i feel the red does not fit the look of it. If i were to go red still i would make it darker.

I used colors to show the brightness and color of the sunset and nature. I used space to show the dolphins and the land compared to the ocean, i also used space to draw the poem away from the picture itself instead of putting the poem on top of my drawing.
I used balance and movement to show the overall view of the waves, sunset, and the dolphins jumping into the air. The meaning behind by work is to show the beauties in nature, i did that by using bright and vibrant colors and a wonderful animal many know of in nature. For my text i used a font in my computer and printed off my poem. I believe the strongest part of my piece of art are the colors, i varied them and used both warm and cool colors together. If i would change anything in my art work or do this artwork again i would add more animals and sea creatures.

I used lines because I used a lot of different types of lines. I used straight lines to make the sides of the house and to make the snowflakes, I also used a little bit of ridged lines to make the line son the Christmas tree and curved lines for the snowman and candy canes. The meaning behind my artwork is that I like the look of sparkly pretty white snow and I, just in general just like Christmas time. The viewer would know by just looking at my artwork and by reading my Haiku. Yes, my text is readable, I changed the text just a little bit on printing the text, a little nicer print and a little bigger. My strongest part of my artwork is my Christmas trees because I think they stand out, out of everything. If I could re do this project, I would change my background. I would change it and make it a little bit nicer and not so all around the place.

I used quite a few shapes, squares, rectangles, and circles. I would say Emphasis is used in here due to the only purple butterfly it stands out the most, Rhythm is used with my clouds and flowers that repeats with pattern. The meaning behind my Haiku is because I favorite the color yellow and I love bright sunny things so I decided to make a "Sunflowers", I think the viewer would know because yellow is used a more than the other colors and in my poem it talks about "Bright yellow petals and a cheery feeling". My text is readable it is in a nice noticeable place that you cant miss, I also used a interesting text that goes with the feeling of my Haiku. The strongest part of my piece would be my barn because I did a decent job at blending the colors so where there is no sun its darker and where there is the barn turns lighter. If I could do this project again I would change the clouds and the color of them and make my sunset more blended.

The elements I used are lines, shapes, color, value, form, texture, and space. The lines I used are the pole for the hole and the swirls at the top of the canvas. I used color for the swirls to create motion by moving the viewers' eyes to the text of the poem. I used blue specifically for the swirls to pop out more in the orange background (highly contrasting colors) in order to move the viewer's eye to the text. I also used color in the golf ball by using highly contrasting colors to stand out considering it is the focal point of the drawing. I also used color by using red on the golf hole flag to pop out by contrasting the predominantly green grass. I used shapes throughout the drawing differing from organic and geometric. The majority of the geometric shapes are in the bottom half of the drawing (the triangle of the flag, the sphere of the golf ball, and the squares and rectangles of the lawn print pattern). To contrast and create balance when cutting the paper in half vertically the top half has more organic shapes with the swirls and the sun and the person hitting the golf ball. I used value with pencil shadings for the person to create ambiguity because of the numerous people he represents. I also used value when creating the lawn pattern by shading it with dark green. I used value and form by shading with the golf ball to make it look 3D. I used the golf ball's brainy and slimy texture to contrast the smooth texture of the green (the location of the golf course that has really short-cut grass). I used space by using the rule of thirds when putting the focal points in the drawing. I used all of the principles except rhythm. I used balance by allowing important objects to have the same weight if the paper was cut in half vertically. I used contrast through the highly contrasting colors in my warm and cool color schemes. I used emphasis by using highly contrasting colors of purple and yellow in the golf ball. As well as its unrealistic size in proportion to the person. I used movement by juxtaposition by putting the person in a freeze frame. I also used physical movement by drawing lines behind the golf ball alluding to movement. I used a geometric pattern on the dark green grass with varying shading. I used unity by creating a scene at a golf course to instill a topic. The meaning behind the work of art is the unpredictability of life as the scene (tries to) portray DJ Khaled playing golf because he randomly mutters phrases like, "Let's go golfing." This is because he has a brain tumor which can be shown by the contrasting yellow invading the purple-looking brain and golf ball. The unpredictability of DJ Khaled is supposed to convey the meaning of the artwork, "the unpredictability of life". The viewer can infer this from the brain tumor-looking golf ball that is the focal point of the drawing which symbolizes unpredictability. My text is readable considering its size. The text used is a cursive font I printed and glued onto my paper. The strongest part of my artwork is the shading pattern as it shows how I can use a principle of art (pattern) and an element of art (shading). If I could make any changes to my artwork I would incorporate a more concrete reason and message to the viewer instead of the silly vague ambiguous meaning that is not well known and I am subpar at portraying.

The first element I used is contrast in the sky with how I wrote my poem and how the moon and clouds contrast against the dark background. Another element I used is lines with the crops and how they point towards the haiku. The last element I used is emphasis, by using white on a dark background I emphasized the haiku and having the moon be so bright compared to the rest of the sky. The meaning behind my work is fall and how sad smashing someone’s pumpkins can make them and the viewer can tell because there’s a smashed pumpkin in my painting. My text is readable because I have a contrasting color to the background but I printed my writing.

In my haiku I was using a mix in between water colors and colored pencils and I mixed them too but for my theme I was thinking a fall them from going from nice green summer colors to warm colors for fall and a tree with minimal leaves to show the next season in the background there’s a pumpkin patch to show Halloween is coming and there are minimal geometric shapes and I was going for the illusion of looking down I don’t know how especially with the illusion of objects getting farther away from the setting of where the eyes of the painting are.

Hudson Welsh

In my art work i used a few geometric shapes not very many. The meaning behind my artwork is a lot of people in today’s society neglect nature. I really enjoy the little things in nature such as the trees, grass and the different kinds of plants. I think the strongest part of my drawing is the clouds. I really like the way they go from big to little to demonstrate the 1 point perspective. I did the same thing to the trees to make it look like they go off in the distance. If I could do this again I would, take my time on the small details. I feel like I rushed quite a bit on the trees and the color.

Along the course of creating my work I added many different elements and principles including line, color, form, value, space, texture, shape, contrast, emphasis, variety, proportion, rhythm, and movement. For instance, you see me use color and contrast when creating the red, orange, and yellow fire in opposition to the blue and green I used when creating the rocks and cliffs below. I used proportion, form, variety, and value when creating the rocks which are all different shapes and sizes with shading to imply the rocks are shiny and reflect light. I used curved lines when creating the fire and straight lines when drawing the cliffs to give the impression of the landscape ending and falling downwards. I used rhythm and movement when drawing the fire to give off the impression that it was moving, or in the very least give off a feeling of naturalism. And finally, I turned the negative space to a darker color so as to achieve more of a contrast between the fire and the background, in other words putting emphasis on the fire.

On the surface the picture is most literally a forest or township catching aflame and burning, turning the sky black with smoke, darkening the water with ashes, and scattering the inhabitants. The deeper meaning to the picture is a relatively simple one to grasp though, “no place is permanent.” This is signified by the fire destroying what is exactly described as an “Olden place,” the fire has destroyed everything that defined it as a place, the wildlife, the homes, the waterways, and it has “scattered” the people as shown by the person running from the fire.

My Haiku as far as I can tell is legible, it is handwritten (in black colored pencil) but I made sure my handwriting was neat and I used a box with a cream background to allow for the writing to be perfectly visible.

I would say the strongest part of my piece is the fire, it’s the brightest part of the piece color wise and it is purposely emphasized by the dark background, it also has the most movement which is generally eye catching.

If I could do this project again, I think I would definitely strive to fill in the background more neatly and maybe incorporate more loops into the fire. I think I would also put more effort into the charcoaling I did and maybe add more details. I also would have liked to put more effort into the haiku box but other than that I am happy with how this came out.

I used multiple lines throughout the haiku, straight, curvy, thick, and thin. There are some textures like smooth in the sunrise and soft in the pillows. The eye-catching part has the most color including warm colors including blue and green. The balance of the art is that the girl is on the right, the window is on the left, and the poem is somewhat in the middle. There are mostly organic shapes but there are rectangles and a half circle. The vales are opposites or contrasting within the drawing, the window having lighter colors and the rest of the haiku having neutral colors. The meaning behind the poem is the calm in the morning and being refreshed and watching the sunrise, I think the illustration brings out the good in waking up. The viewer would know that by just really taking in and appreciating the early mornings. The text is readable, I just printed it out with the font being 'Caveat' on Google Docs. The strongest part it most likely the window because of how all the colors contrast with the rest of the piece. If I could do it again I would add more color to the right side only because not only is the window important but the lady waking up and stretching is a good part of the haiku as well.

In my art piece I used many different shapes, like circles for the snowmen, squares for the house, and triangles for the mountains in the distance. I also used color in the trees, house, mountains, and the sky. I used some lines, mostly in my mountains and the house. I think I also created a bit of emphasis in my piece since everything is neutral colors except for the trees and the sky. The reason behind my Christmas, or winter, drawing is because ever since I was a kid I’ve loved the winter. I loved building snowmen with my family and then going inside to drink hot chocolate. I loved the look of snow on the trees after it snowed. The viewer would know since the haiku says “that winter feeling” showing how I love the feeling of winter. My text is still readable even though I wrote it by hand, I used a black pen to write it. I used my regular handwriting because it would be much more readable than any other print. I think the strongest part of my piece is the colors because of how much they stand out with the snow. If I was to do this project again I would have been more careful when writing the haiku and made all the words perfectly even and perfectly spaced.

I tried to use all of the elements and principals in my Haiku. I started by creating a smooth texture with the snow by leaving it blank, and a more unique and bumpy texture on my carpet by using colored pencils and spotty terpenoid. I also incorporated value by shading under the table and chairs, also adding shading to the chairs directly. I used line and color in various places. An example in which I used both is on the blanket of one of the chairs, creating a stripped pattern, matching the stocking. I created rhythm on the other blanket on my chair by making it a snowflake design. I created movement in my fireplace by making the fire wavy and flowing with bright colors. I used emphasis on the Santa sleigh by making it the only thing with color in the sky out of the window and tried by best to make the sky itself lighter around the sleigh to create more attention for the sleigh and reindeer. I tried to use a variety of shapes by using a lot of geometric shapes, including the presents, snowman, and the table. I also used some organic shapes with the flower vase and the chairs. I tried to create form and perspective inside of the fireplace by using different colors for the walls and the roof, and I tried to show the space around the fire itself. With my entire piece, I hoped to create a sense of unity and balance, and I feel like I did that. Everything goes together nicely, and related to the theme of Christmas. For my text, I used a fancy cursive font, and placed it right over the fireplace. Although I feel like it could have been a little bit bigger, I really liked the placement of it and the idea of putting it into a frame. The strongest part of my work I feel like is the fireplace. I feel like it ties the work together and crates a focal point, also directing the viewer to the text right above. Like I said before, the only thing I would want to change about this artwork is the text size, just making it a bit bigger. The meaning behind my work is to show my love for Christmas and winter time. The viewer would know this because of the decorations I used, along with the Haiku poem itself.

In my art I used color, lines, value and perspective. I like the weather when it not hot and not cold and the wild life begins to change. The text is readable and clear in the top right corner. I feel strongest about the side walk and how it ascends into the side of the page. If i had more time on this project I would probably make leaf's falling from the trees to show how the leaf's are dying and the weather is changing because the art isn't realistic

I used crosshatching for the grass to give it a grass-like texture, I used gradients on the pumpkin to make it look more three dimensional, and I used placement to layer and make certain objects seem closer. The meaning behind my artwork is the seasons changing and the cat is the one who gets to witness the changes, this is seen by the warm colored fallen/falling leaves and the pumpkin. I think my text is readable because the size is pretty large and I tried to keep it bold. I hand wrote my text with in an attempt to mimic the ‘Times New Roman’ font. I think the strongest part of my piece is my sky, it is very pigmented and different from what you would usually think to do for a sky. If I could do the project again I would make the cat more detailed and pigmented, some of its color is too light and sloppy.
