Significance: The raid socially divided the North side and the South side of America as it was a battle between them. It was a violent abolitionist movement planned by the South that involved them attacking South slave owners. It intensified sectional division and heightened animosity between the two sides, eventually leading to the civil war. This event made it clear that a compromise over slavery wasn't possible without force.

The compromise physically divided the U.S. once the the 36°30 act went into power. This compromise originally delayed the war, but it didn't fully stop slavery from expanding. Trying to maintain the balance from slave states and free states it didn't unite the states. This was a core issue that slowly divided the states.

Significance: Johnson's Plan socially put African-Americans behind. His plan didn't fully commend the ex-confederate soldiers, but put them back in power. This negatively affected the freedmen as it put racist leaders in charge. He also didn't mention the 13th, 14th or 15th amendment. He didn't believe in equal rights for Blacks and held them back

Significance: The 13th amendment socially helped reconstruct the U.S. after the civil war. It made all slaves officially free after the Emancipation Proclamation. Even though, it is still seen as a failure because the freedmen were still treated horribly. They became indentured servants and were still forced to work under their ex-slave owners.
