Governments like North Korea have censored their new agencies so in order to preserve their government. This affects the citizens in the state. The killing of journalists and censorship has long been one of the methods of attempting to control society by cutting off certain perspectives and facts. As reporters start going more international, some journalists are killed. This affects foreign policy and relations as can be seen by some recent events such as the killing of an American Journalist in Saudi Arabia.

Al Jazeera Goes to Jail.

The author of this article, Christian Parenti, published this article in 2004 with the intent of informing the general public on how United States troops attacked a journalist in the reaction to their reporting on the Iraq War. The author has credibility because he has multiple published articles on global issues. The author uses events to cover and present the story as factually and unbiased as possible. The author does not hold a claim although it describes an attack on journalism due to their coverage of the Iraq War which they disagreed with. This article is of interest to me and my research on the political perspective of attacks on journalism because it involves the government and attacks on journalism. These two things are also connected in the story which helps me understand how these attacks and politics are related.

Killing the Serpent Speedily

The author of this article, Stephen Towne, published this article in 2006 with the intent of informing people about the events that happened during the civil war era regarding reporting and public influencers. The author is credible because he is an archivist for a couple of university and publishes multiple articles on history, particularly the civil war era, and even has a published book. The author’s use of historical events and facts provides evidence for the political events that occured. The author claims that General Hascall attempted to restrict the press to silence anti government voices. The author’s article is of interest to me in my research on the political perspective of attacks on journalism because it provides a historical example.

Silencing Mexico

The authors of this article, Relly and Bustamante, published this article in 2013 with the intent of exposing Mexican violations of press freedom to the general international audience. The authors are credible due to their collegiate level of education and experience in researching similar topics. The authors use a study to highlight problems in the Mexican government. The authors claim that their democracy is eroding. Questions arising from the article are what are other perspectives. The authors’ conclusion is of interest to me and my research because it provides insight to international censorship.

Attacks on the Press

The authors of this article, working for the Committee to Protect Journalists, published this article in 2007 to inform reporters and tourists of Russian policy of journalism. The author is credible because they are dedicated to the Committee which is a globally acknowledged non-profit organization. They use information from observations and reporting to provide evidence of Russia’s attitude of journalists. Questions arising from this is how does Russia legitimize its view on journalism. The authors’ conclusion is of interest to me and my research on politics regarding journalism because it provides key and valid information on global perspectives.

How one Journalist’s Death

The author of this article, Max Fisher, published this article in 2018 to inform the general public about events surrounding the killing of a journalist in Saudi Arabia. The author is credible because he has college education, writing, and political background. The author uses events as evidence of his claim. He claims that US foreign policy has changed much more over this death than some larger events earlier in history. The author’s conclusion is of interest to me and my research on political relations with journalism because it provides insight to how it affects foreign relations.

Also, many people get killed in others' schemes. This must be brought to light and fixed so that journalists are safer and global relations between countries stay optimal to prevent wars and other escalations.
