In my junior-level class, we linked the Space strand fo the S&T curriculum with the narrative writing aspect of the FSL curriculum and asked students to create a video game, where an astronaut has to find their way through space. I would use Scratch in the classroom again, in a similar way, as part of a large, cross-curricular inquiry project.

I can also provide written feedback, which would be sent to their own account. This is a new way to collect formative data and to provide meaningful feedback, without providing a formal grade.

The blog posts are then shared with the rest of the world through Twitter or other means.

Teachers can prompt a question or a topic they would like students to respond to, and students take a video recording of their response. This can simply be used as a communication tool, it can be used for assessment, or it can be used in more complex ways. Students are sometimes more comfortable recording themselves than speaking in person, so this way of communication can accommodate those students.

In FSL instruction, I would use Duolingo as a supplementary tool. I have used Duolingo in the past with a Gr.5/6 middle French immersion class and they seemed to really enjoy the app.

I can also provide feedback to students through a QR code, keeping it private for them and their parents. The QR Code Generator allows users to create their own codes. QR Readers can be downloaded on devices if there isn't one already built in (like in iPhones and iPads).

I would use Google Forms to get to know my students at the beginning of the year, to gather parent input on classroom decisions, to administer review quizzes, and more. My students would also be able to create through Google Forms.
