Code Create Teach provides workshops for teachers who are beginners in coding. Coding can often seem like a daunting task for teachers who have little experience, like myself. However, I want to give my students the opportunities they deserve to develop their coding skills in the classroom. I will participate in several workshops like this, especially in my early career, to familiarize myself as an educator, with coding and computational thinking.
https://codecreateteach.ca

Participating and learning in TedTalk communities and events has always been a great way to engage in professional development. This particular TedTalk, given by Kayla Delzer, addresses the forces of technology integration and social media in 21st century classrooms. Continuing to participate in these PLCs will help further my understandings of digital literacy and citizenship, to ultimately provide my students with better experiences.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w6vVXmwYvgs&feature=youtu.be

There are several resources available from Canada's Centre for Digital and Media Literacy. This one makes curriculum connections to the digital world. It focuses on digital security and smart literacies.

The OCSB has created an amazing set of resources for their teachers that focus on the proper use and healthy relationship with digital technology.

Prezi is a free software that allows users to create presentations that are more visually interactive than the usual Power Point. I have used it several times in the past, as a teacher and as a student. I would provide this website to my students if they were looking to create a digital presentation.
https://prezi.com/

QR Codes have so many uses in the classroom. Students can create their own QR codes to add text or links to essays or big projects. As a teacher, I can post QR codes around the classroom and link them to meaningful videos, images, audio recordings, or instructions. I can also provide feedback to students through a QR code, keeping it private for them and their parents. The QR Code Generator allows users to create their own codes. QR Readers can be downloaded on devices if there isn't one already built in (like in iPhones and iPads).
https://www.the-qrcode-generator.com/

Google Forms is an extension of Google Drive, so it is easily accessible to students. It allows teachers or other users to create surveys or quizzes. The questions can be open-ended, multiple choice, T/F, and photos and videos can be embedded. I would use Google Forms to get to know my students at the beginning of the year, to gather parent input on classroom decisions, to administer review quizzes, and more. My students would also be able to create through Google Forms.
https://www.google.ca/forms/about/
