He abandoned his rich life. he preached about god to everyone. He started having a love for animals and nature which is how he is now known as the patron saint of the environment and animals. He became a Saint because of his good deeds and he had another vision from god but this time it left him with the same marks of jesus christ’s wounds from when he was crucified. He lived in a poor household with his parents. His Father was German and his mother was Polish. His father unfortunately died while fighting for an independent Poland. St Kolbe was very religious even from a young age. When he was 13 years old he entered the Franciscan Fathers Seminary in the polish city of Lvov, which was at that time occupied by Austria. It was in the seminary where he adopted the name Maximilian. When the Nazi guards selected 10 people to be starved to death in punishment, Kolbe volunteered to die in place of a stranger. I would have to wake up early every morning at 5.00 am. At 6.00am i would have to have a meditative start to the day by having a service where people say scriptures and psalms. Then i would have to do the morning prayer at 7.15am, a midday prayer at 12.00. 12.30 i have lunch then another prayer after supper at 8.15. • St francis had a special love for animals and nature whereas St Kolbe had a special love for Mary the mother of Jesus. 
• St Kolbe was very religious at a young age but St Francis grew to be religious at around the age of 20.
• They both had different values
