The goals of this program were to raise the value of crops and reduce the surplus of food by paying farmers to reduce the amount of crops they planted and to kill excess livestock.

I believe that this program was not successful. Even though it did manage to raise crop prices, it did not end the depression, and many people were still suffering from hunger. This program only wasted lots of food that could've been given to the poor.

I don't think this program was a good use of federal funding because it didn't make a drastic change to the current situation. It wasn't until WWII that farmer's incomes increased significantly

Critisisms

Many poor and hungry people would have been critical of this program because they believe that all the food that is being thrown away could be given to them. They would believe that this program isn't working to end the depression.
