My Final e-Portfolio by Lakan Lawin Mabborang

Thank you, sir Sam, for being an understanding teacher even if we're very naughty and hard-headed, which we are very sorry for! Even if you are still a new teacher, you have demonstrated your capability to teach effectively and to let your students fall in love with Math, even if some aren't that proficient at it. I truly believe, being one of your first students in the AJHS, you will become a very good educator as the years pass by.

SMART Goals

Specific:

My goal for this term is to bounce back from a C+ in Math, during the last term to a B or B+ in the Second Term, since I really want to finish strong, even though my 1st term mark was a C.

Measurable:

I can do this by checking my progress in my quizzes, drills, homework, and long tests. I can also make this goal come true by devoting time to answering and studying my math lessons. Furthermore, I can ask for guidance from my classmates, so that I can gain additional knowledge, and learn from them.

Attainable:

I strongly believe that this goal can be attainable through the self-discipline I have to instill in myself. I have to at least spend 1-2 hours studying and drilling myself, for me to be proficient, and fast at understanding the lessons concepts and formulas.

Relevant:

This goal of mine is very relevant because I want to prove to my parents, and most especially myself that I can make up for a C+, during the last term. It would also be a test of my mettle and grit, on how much I want to improve and excel in my Math studies. That is why during the 3rd term, I was very inspired to do my best, and be able to practice my math skills as much as possible.

Time-bound:

I believe that this would take me the whole term to see my progress, but as long as I stay committed and I stay consistent with the process, I can achieve this goal that I want.

I do think that I improved in my math journey because aside from passing all of the long tests, I have also developed a healthy study routine that helped me get my grades up. Aside from these, I became very active and attentive in class, which I improved this term over the last. Lastly, I think I became more interested in the subject than in the second term, probably because it's the last term, so I have to do my best. However, despite that, Math now has become enjoyable and more interesting to me.

Most Challenging Task/s

To me, this was the most difficult task that I had answered. The long test in probability gave me a hard time, and reviewing for it as well, since I had a hard time comprehending the problems I had to understand. However, despite this loss, I still dared to persevere and continue, and now I can say that I have gone a long way. I have improved my grades, and I have developed skills I have never thought of gaining before. It was hard at times, however, it was very rewarding once I got to the end.

This has been one of the most fun collaborative works because I had to have my classmates and friends help me with this. Because it was Cerebry, all of my classmates gave me help in answering it. We spent a lot of time laughing and solving and being frustrated on items that were hard to answer. Overall, it was a very fun experience. Even though we had many items to solve and figure out as a group, we still never failed to have fun.

Misconception/s

A common misconception about the parallel lines conjecture in circles is the belief that any two lines tangent to a circle must be parallel. However, this is not necessarily true. The parallel lines conjecture states that if a line is tangent to a circle at a certain point, then it is parallel to the line through the center of the circle and that point of tangency. While this is indeed true, it doesn't imply that any two tangent lines on a circle are parallel to each other. To overcome this misconception, it's important to emphasize the specific conditions under which the parallel lines conjecture holds. Specifically, parallelism occurs between the tangent line and the radius of the circle at the point of tangency. Other tangent lines on the circle may have different orientations and therefore won't necessarily be parallel to each other. By clarifying this distinction, we can develop a more accurate understanding of the relationships between tangent lines and circles. Additionally, providing visual demonstrations and examples can help reinforce the concept and dispel any misunderstandings.

For me, this has been my best work so far in the entirety of my 3rd term journey, or even maybe my Grade 10 math journey. So far, in this school year, I have never have I gotten a score this high or a perfect in a quiz. Never have I been so satisfied and happy with the score that I got. It boosted my self-confidence and interest in studying math more.

What are/is my learnings from this School Year?

What I learned from the 1st, 2nd, and 3rdGrading Periods or the previous grade levels, which I will apply to my daily life, is to focus on time management and consistency. If time management is practiced, then even if I am burdened, I can prioritize in the most optimal manner, which subjects, topics, and assignments to accomplish first, so as not to be burned out. Secondly, consistency, as I strongly believe change doesn’t happen overnight, but with consistency, through progressing through incremental steps, my foundation on a lesson will be stronger and my understanding will be deeper, and I won’t easily forget about it. With these two, I believe that I can definitely apply it to my life, because it focuses not only on discipline but realism as well. Furthermore, these two things will help me to become successful and a better person in the future.
