I would begin with finding out what are her hobbies,  information about her family and what is something she is likes to do at school.  Collaborating with Tran’s family to determine if there is a need for  connection/support to community services. Tran  may benefit from receiving some books in her home language. The classroom the skills that would be most to teach  Tran  would be routines such as how to request teacher assistance when needed, simple greetings and classroom procedures ( classroom schedule, where to put completed work, classroom rules etc).   Getting to know Tran and forming a relationship to help teach her how to interact with teachers and peers, understand school expectations and rules may help Tran feel comfortable in her educational setting so that the “real” learning can begin.
