He lost his brother who died of tuberculosis in 1752. He was the hero of the American Revolutionary War, he was also the first President of the United States of America. He fought the French who wanted to control the territory west of the English colonies in America, then he developed the land he inherited or bought. He became one of the biggest planters in Virginia. After liberating the British colonies and founding the United States he was elected in 1789 for a four-year term, the first ever presidential election in the United States. George Washington was fighting for the independence of the United States. It was a very important representant of America in the war of indepandance. George Washington was elected chief of an army very easily because he had all the characteristics of a good soldier, he is calm, tall and has a great experience in the military.  
The first squadron of George Washington was very bad. He ameliored the condition of this squadron.He was fighting against the British army called the Red Tunics. To face this army of 12,000 soldiers, he had to recruit free blacks. His army suffered some defeats but also victories like those of Trenton and Pri nceton which restored the morale of his army. The France of Louis 16 enters the conflict alongside the Americans. The appalling winter conditions from 1777 to 1778 caused many deaths (2,500 for the quarter of the soldiers.)
