Today Wen Chung’s aunt and cousin came to visit. Her mother and aunt would sit and talk for hours and hours while Wen Chung’s when and her cousin, Chung Lee, played for hours.

“Cousin, I am so glad that you came to visit me today! We should ask our mothers if you could spend the night at my house!” Said Wen Chung.

“My mom will say no, she says I have to do chores on Saturday’s. But maybe if you ask her, she will let me!” Said Chung Lee, excitedly.

Wen Chung said, “we should come up with a good way to ask her because I don’t want her to tell me no either.”

The two girls sat and tried to think of clever ideas to ask their mothers if they could have a sleep over.

“Chung Lee spoke up and said, “Maybe you should take my mom to the side and ask her right now? So we could know before we get too comfortable playing.”

“I got it! We should cook them something to eat! Get them happy and full of food, then they will be too sleepy to tell us ‘no’.” Wen Chung said.

“That’s a great idea! We could make white rice and chicken stir fry, their favorite!” Chung Lee said.

The girls started to cook and their mothers glanced over and giggled to each other.

Once the food was done, the girls served them and made sure the presentation was picture perfect.

“Thank you very much for this beautiful surprise!” Their mothers exclaimed as they finished their food. “This was delicious!”

“You’re welcome,” the girls said together. They waited there with their hands behind their backs. Finally, Wen Chung spoke up. “Auntie. Mother. May Chung Lee sleep over our house today?” She said nervously.

When Chung’s mother spoke up, “oh daughter, I forgot to tell you! That is why Chung Lee is here. Her mother asked me this morning if I could watch her while she went Christmas shopping!”

The girls looked at each other, a bit disappointed for all their stress and hard work. But easily got over it and laughed.
