We also were treated to a wonderful and informative city tour by the very vocal and knowledgeable Chiara.

There was a learning-by-doing approach, where we would try out different exercises and methods that we can then apply in our own classrooms, like:

• Crossword halves (in teams)

• Competitive Quizlet (in pairs)

• Finding pictures of emotions from ads and quantifying then to see how differently emotions are perceived by individuals depending on their own personal experiences.

We did activities like role-playing different scenarios to troubleshoot potential conflicts and controversies such as bullying and prejudice in the classroom. We also played the spiders web game with some string, which is passed around as students say something positive about themselves then about the person they threw the yarn to. This exercise practises and develops a positive mindset and with the string, shows how we are all connected.
