This is going to be a bell. The legs will attach inside the hollow body and dangle and clink. The round piece with the holes will be inside body an allow string to attach the legs with the top handle of the bell.

The wolf creature will on top of the man's boney shoulder to illustrate his life slowly deteriorating. For the glazing process, I will be using blues, whites and blacks.

This piece shows the half finished woman ( no legs or arms) expresses how much love you can put into something and end up never finishing because someone cut you deep (ike the arms) and stole her heart.

This piece is a torso combined with tree trunks and all sorts of plants. I wanted to combine different textures to form the shape of the body.

This is a really rough sketch of the later version of the piece inspired by emphasizing the lute/lyre shape and integrating the mouth, nose, eye and the mouth of the instrument in the eventual piece.

This is Kal'Sit from the video game Arknights, a linx with human characteristics. You can tell by her ears, head, and eyes. Don't think she's fat though, it's only her dress! She's about an averege sized human. I dressed her up in a dress.

Chicken-Man Hybrid

I sketched out several ideas I had for the ceramic hybrid sculpture but I ultimately decided on the drawing at the top of the page--a chicken-man hybrid! To make the sculpture a bit more functional, I'm planning to make the chicken-man into a planter pot. The chicken-man will have facial features that distinguishes it as a chicken, namely, the comb, beak, and wattles. Its body will also be chicken shaped and plump enough to hold a plant! But my chicken-man will not have feathery wings, 'scaly' shanks, nor sharp claws and will instead feature super muscular human arms and legs. The chicken-man will be squatting down (past parallel!) as he is in midst of laying an egg into his 'nest'-like saucer tray (so to catch excess water). I did not draw the saucer tray in the sketch, however.

I used two different colors of clay for my project, sort of alluding to the fact that it is a hybrid figure. Additionally, the contrast in clay colors allowed me to emphasize the chicken body parts and the human body parts. I also was not certain about the prospects of glazing my sculpture (as I know I work really slowly), so using two differently colored clay made the sculpture pretty interesting to look at, even if I don't end up glazing it.

The sculpture was made in separate parts, namely, the arms, legs, egg, and 'nest' are detachable from the planter pot body. This was a suggestion Michelle recommended as to minimize my sculpture being blown up into pieces. I will be able to assemble it using ceramic glue after all the glazing and firings are completed.

I had a lot of fun creating this sculpture! The idea was hilarious to me, and I loved the way it turned out! It cracks me up every single time I look at it because it's just so bizarre. I understand that I didn't get chicken anatomy completely correct because of the way I wanted the human arms and legs to be posed, but overall, I am very pleased with the way my hybrid figure turned out. I am excited to come back next semester to finish my chicken-man planter pot up! It will definitely be a statement piece so I am already thinking about where the best place for him to shine and what kind of plant he will hold!
