Mercury Redstone 4, July 21, 1961

July 22, 1961:
Around 18 hours ago, I was aboard the Mercury Redstone 4. The purpose of my mission was to familiarize astronauts with rockets and space travel, so that space exploration could grow for the future. Now you may be asking, how did I Gus Grissom get picked as one of the seven lucky men to be apart of the original Mercury astronaut team? Well I originally started off as a flight instructor for NASA, as a reward for my hard work and dedication, I received a letter asking if I would be one of NASA's first men in space. Because this mission is now finally complete and I made it back home safely, I am now crowned as the third man to ever enter space. Once I lifted off the launchpad in Cape Canaveral, Florida, I spent around 15 minutes and 37 seconds in space! During this period of time spent, I was making my way around Earth's orbit. This was one of the most crazy achievements in my life and I can't wait to fly back into outer space!

March 25, 1965:
Hi guys! I know I haven't written in a while but about 49 hours ago I took part of the Gemini 3 mission. The purpose of these Gemini missions were to test astronauts abilities during long term flights, so NASA astronauts could eventually travel further into space. After my last mission aboard the Mercury Redstone, I had been told in private that if this mission worked, I would be the first man to ever travel to the moon. Throughout this whole mission that was most definitely my main motivation. I spent a total of 4 hours, 52 minuets, and 31 seconds in outer space. I know, a lot longer than my last expedition. I spent this journey along with my buddy John Young. Before John became an astronaut, he had spent is time training in the Navy. As you can tell, because I am writing this blog, John and I both made it back safely and my spot is now secured in traveling to the moon.

February 20, 1967:
Today it's officially one day before my launch to the moon. During this ride I will be accompanied by Ed White and Roger Chaffee. For the last six months, we have all been training everyday for 14 hours. The training included traditional classes and different types of zero gravity courses. During this mission my crew members and I will travel around Earth and then land on the moon. As I stated in my previous blog post, this mission will secure my spot in being the first man to ever walk on the moon.
