I must admit you were a clever woman but not clever enough to see the consequences of your arrogant behavior. I would never name the reason of your death to anyone though I would be very glad to make people believe that you died from your hypocrisy. Do I sound quite angry? I must apologize and then repeat that I feel nothing. Although there is one thing which I suppose I can convey from my disappointed heart. This is the power which I got after your death. The power to turn your image in whatever I want. I can imagine that you were kind and virtuous (which I will never do) or I can describe you as a butterly (beautiful, but tragic because of the short lifespan) or I can make you nothing - saying to my guests just a few words about your portrait and then moving on the next picture like if you were just a part of my collection. Honestly, maybe you actually were. And if you were then I must notice that you might feel unspecial and lonely, but, unfortunately, I don“t care about that because I“m deeply in love with my collection. Однако в ее характере разобраться было куда проще. Она была невежественной, не разносторонней женщиной со сложным характером. Едва стоило ей на что-то обидеться, как тут же уверяла, что у нее не все в порядке с нервами. Целью ее жизни было удачно выдать своих дочерей замуж, а ее развлечениями были визиты и новости.

The text is quite simple to translate but it`s better to preserve the unique style and tropes which was typical for any victorian novel of the 19th century.

This chapter shows quite odd manner of writing which we are not used to. Still it is a great demonstration of 19th century's writing. In description of characters we can hear a lot of ironic notes. Whether it's Mr Bennet or his wife - they are both rather amusing. We can see that this description is introduced by the author as a narrator. This is characteristically for the literature epoch. They are totally different people, and because of that, their love story evokes interest and questions... I consider their description funny and maybe sarcastic. It says that Mrs. Bennet 20 years tried to understand her husband, but didn't succeed, so we understand that their life has to be funny or at least extraordinary.

It was a little bit challenging for me to understand some words, but in the context I figured out the general meaning. I find the characterisation of Mr Bennet and his wife to be succinct and humorous, as it gives us a very clear understanding of what these characters are like and how their dynamic might play out in a witty manner, similiar to the rest of the chapter. At the beginning, the author tells about the place where the hobbit lives. In this way, he prepares the reader, taking him away from the ordinary situation and pointing out to him that a fictional story is being offered to his attention. The reader understands that the events of this story take place in an unknown place.
2. The narration does not begin immediately, at first the author gives his arguments, and does not introduce the reader to the characters and their lives. It is also unusual that a dialogue immediately follows, and not the usual description.
3. These are two different ways of starting a narrative. Tolkien uses the second one, he immediately sets the tone of the story and brings the reader up to date. but Jane Austen, it seems to me, uses the first method, so after reading the first sentences in "pride and prejudice", so  the reader finds a reason to reflect, to think about what the author is writing about.
4. The words "long ago" and "one morning" resemble the beginning of a fairy tale, this is such a formula for the beginning of a fictional story. And usually when the author begins the narrative in this way, then the adventures begin.
