I have been teaching for 5 years as an English Instructor. I am working through my Phd graduate coursework now, with an emphasis in writing and instructional design in higher education. I love teaching and admire my students greatly. I am also in yoga teacher training. I am very much an advocate for intellectual, emotional, and spiritual development. And the fact that I can facilitate this development on the part of my students both in classroom and the zen studio, is a dream come true for me.

My metaphor would have to a tree—like an oak, a palm, or a giving tree (Silverstein, 1964) as strength, adaptability, and altruism are embedded in my identity.

One thing I enjoy about reading is that I am able to experience new places and adventures. I also like opening my horizon when it comes to reading different genres and stepping out of my comfort zone. I especially love reading poems and consider it as my sanctuary. For me, it is a means to distress from the outside world, allowing me to experience unknown worlds in the process. Reading also helps enhance my vocabulary skills and gives me the opportunity to explore new writing techniques.

Reading and writing isn't really my cup of tea but I am slowly learning to appreciate reading. One of the things that interest me is that when I am reading, I have my own interpretation and perspective on the things that I read and that is what I find so fascinating about reading.

My metaphor would be a stream. As calm and free flowing as it seems, there's also a rollercoaster of directions in which the stream flows and that's what sums up my personality.

Some of things I like about reading is that I always get enjoy reading the MC (Main character) point of view in a story, where u can get different view point and struggles like my fav book series is Wings of Fire, each book has the same group of characters but each book taking on a different view point on one of the characters. Hence one of my love for it and another is the MCs are Dragons which is also rare for a book to have too.

Although most of the time , English classes require long research and invest a lot of time when doing an essay; This is the subject I love the most. I have the freedom to express my feelings or memories through poem. my personal point of view in an analogy, write realistic or fantasy fiction. There are a infinity of topics or genres that can be chosen and in one way or another they will cause a certain impact, teaching or sensation.

Explanation of the visual metaphor: I chose a rough diamond. My person, Like a diamond, has two parts, that make it up, its image from afar (interpretations, opinions) and its close image. On one hand, I can be projected as a radiant being, who stands out but can sometimes be considered fragile. With more time to get to know me and interact with me, they realize of other qualities such as being firm, focused and strong.

Although I have had rough times when it comes to English class , the aspect that I enjoy the most about English class is when I'm able to write my opinion down on a certain text or topic, whether or not I would mostly agree or disagree based on the text or topic that I'm writing on.

Hobbies: Cooking, traveling/adventure and spending time with family and friends.

One thing I enjoy about reading is the feeling of getting lost in a book and finding myself in worlds that I have yet to discover. It provides me with an escape from reality and allows me to embark on an adventure anywhere I am. A good suspenseful mystery novel quenches my desire for a thrill, as I can place myself in the different scenarios the author has carefully laid out. It keeps me guessing and I love the suspense of not knowing what comes next.

My metaphor would be a sunflower because, just like me, a sunflower seeks out positivity and strength. Sunflowers are also known for their devotion as the blossoms follow the path of the sun across the sky and I value loyalty, meaningful relationships, wisdom, and always seek to become the best possible version of myself.

What I like about reading and writing is understanding its contents. I mainly enjoy fictional works as there are no limits or specific format to what a writer can create and what a reader can experience. Though you don't hear the words, see its images, or physically feel it, literary works will activate those feelings and can touch you emotionally, just with simple text. I'm not a good reader nor a good writer but I appreciate what it can do. I joined a creative writing class in high school and it showed the world to creative writing and I thank that teacher for it. They taught me that writing is boundless and timeless, and its purpose is not one thing. There was never really a right answer to writing.

My metaphor would have to be a snowdrop flower. A small bundle of flowers that can bloom in the cold winter season. Why, I choose a snowdrop is because I do feel small and as if my environment is harsh and cold, preventing me to grow. Short stories have always been my preferred choice of reading, especially Science Fiction ones. But among all of the ones I've read, "The Dead Past" by Isaac Asimov stands out. Just the way that it pulled me in, built the characters in ways that never bored you or felt irrelevant to the plot, and the two pivotal scenes in it play out beautifully. It is easily my favorite piece of writing that I've found.

Hobbies: Learning how to use Unix scripting, digitizing LPs into the large collection of music I listen to, and playing games online with friends.

I like writing because whenever I am ever alone in a situation and I want to express myself, I write what I think and how I feel on a piece of paper. I really helps when I have my thoughts somewhere other than myself and making sure I'm not bothering anyone about my problems. I also like to read in purpose of gaining knowledge of a specific topic. I've never be the one to especially enjoy any aspects of English but reading was at the very top of the list for me, until one day my 4th grade teacher introduced me to my favorite book ever Hatchet by Gray Paulsen. After reading this book my outlook towards reading changed in a tremendously positive way helping me enjoy reading since then.

A metaphor that really represents me would be football, since as far back as I can remember I have always been amazed by the sport and playing the sport helps me be free and relaxed.

In my junior year of high school, I had an English teacher who looked similar to Edna from Incredibles. She once said, "I like to read books to remind me I am privileged and have many things in life that others have to fight for.". My teacher's quote will forever impact my perspective on books and writing because each story holds a meaningful life lesson. Each day, I remind myself I am fortunate for having the life I have now. Whenever I have time, I read articles or books. For example, I would read a book about relationships and romance, then apply it to real life relationships. I adore how I can express my emotions by simply writing it out. Overall, reading different stories from different authors allows me to have a new different perspective in life.

My metaphor is a stick- like a twig. At first, a twig can be easily broken in half with bare hands. Do it again and again and the twig becomes more difficult to break in half. At one point, the twig becomes short and unbreakable. Each time I am broken, I become stronger. Each time I am stronger, I become more unbreakable. One day, I will be completely unbreakable.
Additionally, a twig has a rough skin on the outside, yet a smooth, soft wood on the inside. I may seem rough on the outside, but I am a very soft, loving and caring person on the inside.

What I like about writing:
I truly find writing
to be a form of therapy for me. Expressing myself through written words has been an all time favorite for me. I've started to become this way my freshmen year of high school when we had our first graded assignment for the quarter; to be honest I cant recall what the assignment was about. All I remember was writing my heart out for every writing assignment after that (I did get lazy a few times.)

Hobbies: Running, praying, and meditation.

This "visual metaphor" is everything I stand for. Live in the moment, because soon as that moment is gone you're going to spend the rest of your life wishing you can go back. You cant make bigger, and better memories living in the past.

Hobbies: Football, and Snowboarding.

My favorite types of genres to read are Horror, Thriller and Crime. One of my favorite books are Finders Keepers by Stephen King, or the dead girls of hysteria hall by Katie Alender. I like these genres because they give you something like a puzzle to solve or make predictions and seeing if they'll come true. I love plot twists as well.
My Metaphor is water. I think I'm a "go with the flow" type of person. I've always been easy to get along with. I am a very calm person as well. Additionally, My personality is very deep just like water I keep my feelings to myself and don't open up much.
