I choose my own books- I hate reading assigned books. 

After I read I love to talk about the book and how I honestly felt about it. I don't like struggling to come up with reasons that I like a book when I really hated it. During: I think about how I could be effected and the locations that may be.

That way, when I find a book I enjoy, I know that I have plenty more like it to read later. I don't read very many novels during the school year, but I spend my summers reading. I also enjoy reading blogs and articles on my computer/phone. ]]> 2017-02-13 20:36:32 UTC https://padlet.com/dawnmitchell/read2/wish/153566529 dawnmitchell https://padlet.com/dawnmitchell/read2/wish/153566562 I chose to read a book for Sunday School called The Insanity of Obedience by Dr. Ripken and before reading I saw that this book was actually the second book in a series so I went to the author's website and the publisher's (Lifeway) to see if I needed to read that book first.  I didn't but knowing what the first book was about gave me a context.
During reading - When I got to a very exciting part in chapter 2, I wanted to tell someone about it.  I texted my two friends who are in the class and asked them what they thought about it- could they believe that a dad would take out a hitman to kill his daughter for changing her faith?!
After reading I also took down some notes that I wanted to talk about with the class.

I'll often put myself on the waiting list to check it out. I can stop and think about what I am reading or go back and reread a part for enjoyment or clarification.

So time of day and location are important to me. In terms of before reading activities, the book jacket is important for me. I read the summary/ quotes, pictures, etc. I am not necessarily a series person. I normally have a spot on my front porch or couch in my living room where I set myself up to begin my reading. Before I read, I tend the do some research whether it is reading the back of the book, insights from online or even book trailers. This way I know if I am interested in reading more.
