Three week at the end
Three weeks at midterms, so students are familiar with the process

All four language parts.
Reading, writing—linked to reading, listening—dictation, they write what they hear., speaking—choose a familiar reading to speak about. 

Culminating task is at each students level.

Conferencing—with each student about how they’ve done over the semester. 

The STEP question comes up especially with English and other heavy writing/reading classes like History at the end of the semester from other teachers. They feel perplexed about what grade to give based on what students actually know vs what they can communicate.

Reading—with prompting questions such as what is this about? What is the main problem? Writing—procedural sentences, descriptive sentences, paragraph.
