My Family

I grew up in an extremely non-religious household that always greatly embraced cultivating and forming our opinions and belief systems. My parents separated at a young age which created a somewhat untraditional family dynamic in my household as I was being raised by single parents on both sides who both worked full time as they raised two kids. A more turbulent childhood further encouraged me to be more independent and self-sufficient. My mother and father both are sternly left and have liberal belief systems to most extent. My older brother stands as a liberal queer man.

My identity

Being a woman is a huge portion of my identity. I think growing up as a woman comes with its own independent set of challenges that other gender(s) will never have the ability to comprehend or understand. I think that as someone who presents herself in a more masculine way at times, I have seen the impact that presentation and appearance have on me socially. Another huge portion of my identity is being non-religious and never belonging or aligning with truly any form of religion. I have never felt any understanding or drawn towards religion.

My Experience

Growing up within Lamorinda has shaped many of my perspectives due to its location and atmosphere. I think the proximity to a lot of lower-class cities or areas has shaped me a lot in understanding how diverse people are economically. I think growing up in an untraditional household where finances were not always a given I have grown to understand certain struggles that people of lower incomes can face well also see and live extremely privileged at times as well by attending schools and being friends with people in these areas.

There are no ethical billionaires. I believe there is no possible way for someone to be so wealthy and not have people along the way who are not making a fair wage, as well as there, is no need for someone to ever possess that much money.

I think that the death penalty is an inhumane form of punishment in an attempt to solve and recover from other inhumane actions. When they go low we go lower in a sense.

Sexuality is something that everyone deserves privacy and respect around! there is no need for someone to be shamed or judged for who they love and if someone discusses LGBTQ+ rights then that is a moral issue within themself. Queer people's existence doesn't cause harm to those who are not and people need to stop behaving as if their sexuality impacts them.

Abortion

In a straightforward sense, abortion is a form of healthcare. It protects future infants and children from not having safe or stable upbringings as well as protecting the mothers who could be harmed during the pregnancy or birth. Moving away from abortion is a large step backward for women all over the country and further pushes men to have control over women and their bodies.

If you are making an extremely high amount of money and can comfortably or further than comfortably support yourself and those around you then you should contribute more to taxes. It is systematically broken that those who make less should be paying the same or similar amounts to those paying drastically more.
