I still have questions about LM. What are your questions?

Ok...I'm relatively new to evaluating programs...previously there's the process of conducting surveys and analysis of results. I'll need to find out more about our current evaluation tools before making a stand to use logic models. Some questions in mind:

How do we use LM for current programs that's been running for some time? Do we need to rethink the whole process again?
It'll seem daunting to rethink the process of all the existing programs.

Need to know more first and how it is that much 'better' or 'less complicated' than what we are currently using. The Logic Model template is different from others we have used before and what I find different or more defined is the 'Outcomes - Impact' columns. Also, as SSD, I was recently introduced to templates to be used for strategic initiatives and evaluation so I would need to first consider which approach would be preferred.

As with any new tool, I would like to see more examples of how it is used effectively and we would need some "hands-on" to get familiar. I also googled and found that there are some disadvantages to LM and would like to know, how these cons might affect how we plan or evaluate using LM. Finally, I also agree with what Raymond has brought up on the "better" and "less complicated" aspect. A hammer is only as good as the carpenter who uses it.

LM will no doubt be a detailed and useful tool to look at before planning programmes. I would like to use it as it takes into consideration various important factors and i like the fact of the relooking at inputs to adjust so that expected outcomes can be achieved. But it might not be a one size fits all solution for all programmes and is largely dependent on the basis and nature of our programme or activity.
