1. Fort Margherita is an important landmark and monument in Sarawak's history, located in Kuching, across the Sarawak River near The Astana.

2. It was constructed by Charles Brooke, Rajah of Sarawak in 1879.

3. It was designed to provide protection for Kuching from being attacked by pirates or foreigners.

4. It also served as a Police Museum from 1971 before being handed over to the Government of Sarawak.

5. It now houses the Brooke Gallery, an exhibition showcasing the history of Sarawak back then in the Brook Dynasty.

Why do we want to visit it?

1. We would like to visit Fort Margherita because it's quite beautiful and interesting aside from the fact that it is one of the oldest and the important landmark in Sarawak. Not only we felt amazed, it also brought us the feeling of pride towards our state.

2. One of the main reason we are willing to visit Fort Margherita is also because according to earlier visitors, it is a compact museum yet it contains variety of historical items from the Brooke's family. It is the history that we are looking for so that we are able to educate ourselves apart from entertaining ourselves in an interesting expedition along the way.

it is located at Bandar Hilir,Melacca.Kota A Famosa was built as soon as the Portuguese captured Melaka in 1511.
In the 16th century A’Famosa housed the entire Portuguese administration, including its hospitals, five churches, elongated stockades and four key towers.
Originally constructed by Alfonso de Albuquerque (who led the Portuguese invasion on the Malacca Sultanate), the remains of the fort is now a crumbling whitewashed gatehouse and is located downhill from St. Paul’s Church.It is partially preserved today, including the gate, sewage system and defensive walls, as well as a reconstruction of its watchtoTo suppress the attacks of the Malacca Sultanate, they immediately started the constructions of temporary camps, as well as the main stronghold called the Fortaleza de Malaca, now better known as A Famosa.
