I will do this earlier in the year by making sure I know my students strengths and needs, accommodating lessons to fit all students. I will also make sure the content is engaging and fun, based on students strengths.

I will develop classroom community by greeting students at the door and trying to make a personal connection with each student. That way they know they are a part of our school community and have a place in the classroom.

  I will develop this is the year by setting clear expectations and by having a day just to get to know my students and making sure they know information about me.

As a future educator, I will:

1. Create a classroom contract that the students and I will create together. This allows all students to become involved at the beginning of the year and develop a sense of self in the classroom.

2. Learn about my students. As a teacher, I don't just want to know about the students' academic skills, but about their personal and family lives. These are often correlated and can be managed when I know what is going on at home with my students.

3. Use positive reinforcement. Negative reinforcement is very prevalent in schools, and I want to make sure my students know that doing the right thing can lead to better opportunities in the future. Making sure my students also know that doing the right thing should not have to come with an incentive.

1. Ensure assessments or projects are given in ways that students can understand and can choose how they relay their understanding

2. Have students work with partners, small groups but ensure that they know that their ideas might vary but everyone's ideas are heard and accepted. Then giving the students who want to share the opportunity to share

3. Know your students, what they like, don't like, enjoy doing, what their family is like at home to ensure that they feel accepted and heard within the classroom

I will develop this in the beginning of the year to show that all students are welcomed and heard. The students can share about their culture and home life but also know from the start that they can share their opinion and ideas.

As a future educator, I will make sure that all of my students are included in my classroom by:

• Having individual conferences and having my students create a profile project about themselves (PowerPoint, pamphlet, letter, etc.)

• Creating a classroom contract together and having them sign it!

• Involving all of the parents through apps such as Class Dojo

• Using a variety of teaching methods and strategies to meet each student's learning preferences

By working on learning who my students truly are, where they come from, and what they like on the first day of school, it creates a bond and a connection. Instead of focusing just on academics, I think it's imperative to begin forming relationships beyond the classroom instruction as soon as students walk through the door.
