Darwin's theory shows that organisms are constantly adapting and changing a tiny bit every generation in order to better fit into their surroundings. This can lead to divergence of species into subspecies and it can help the species always be more fit for survival. It is a constantly continuing cycle, with the population always thinning out to the most fit.

I used to think animals and all organisms changed over time because of either genetic change similar to what Lamark said how the organisms change during their lifetime and then pass the genetic to their child and future generations but after examining and looking through the article and video, I now think that the real reason for the change of organisms over time is because of Darwin’s theory, natural selection. This is because based on the article I read, it said how Lamarck’s theory suggests that all organisms become more complicated over time, and it isn’t true for simple organisms like single-cell organisms so this idea, therefore, isn’t true. Also, characteristics inherited during an individual’s lifetime do not get passed onto their offspring such as piercing.

But during the industrial revolution, all the trees changed to a darker color because of the air population which gave the darker color moths better adaptation to survive in their new environment so now they are the ones who are surviving and producing more offsprings that are darker color moths.

Based on results from the simulation and information from the video I watched, I can conclude that my original thoughts on evolution are true. I believed in natural selection, the concept that variations of species with traits that better suited the environment tend to become more common than other variations over time, because more of them survived, reproduced, and kept that gene alive. This was proven correct in the simulation when I saw that moths with similar colors tp the trees around them survived more since they camouflaged with the trees, and with more survivors, there are more offspring.

I used to think humans’ ancestors just somehow appeared. I thought they evolved from the homosapiens and the species similar to that. But after examining this I think that they started evolving much longer ago. They look completely different and many things happen because of coincidence. We evolved because of the many drastic changes on the earth and to our life.
