Sarah: We are always being told that technology can have a positive effect on environmental needs. For example, 40 years ago people thought we couldn’t grow enough food to support the global population. But in fact, with new farming methods, we have increased food production.
Joel: You know, to solve issues like climate change by capturing carbon. And we will get better at using technology to find new ways of doing things, like getting more minerals out of the Earth by deep water drilling. that is just an example, but I mean, now we can get oil out of places like the Arctic that were impossible to reach, even 20 years ago.
Hasan: I would argue that you have to balance economic growth with the use of resources. We can’t just go on using the same amount of oil and gas- it is not sustainable. There have to be controls. I mean, these are finite resources.
