This one NY post article is aggressive in saying that boomers are incapable of the things they still do in their age. It's pretty surprising how the blatantly tone and rhetoric in this article bashes people over 65. they depict boomers as being rich and greedy as well as completely negligent, generalizing a whole generation. A quote in reference to Trump Biden or Elizabeth all running for 2020 election, "You wouldn’t give your 78-year-old grandfather the Amazon password, never mind the nuclear codes".

This article depicts boomers as an untapped mine. New markets and innovations are emerging, and this economist argues that those who tap into the unmet needs of our aging population will thrive and profit in figuring out how to tend to the needs of the elderly as the aging middle class generation of boomers are retiring.

I love south parks satirical ability to somehow make fun of and generalize everybody ever, in a way that controversially depicts groups, and individuals in what would usually be so extremely socially unacceptable. Here's a laugh at the expense of the AARP. When all the old people in town leave a meeting at once. With a large aging population its worth thinking about how we can provide adequate transportation for elders who maybe shouldn't drive.

If you look at advertisements for retirement plans, or money saving opportunities for seniors, they usually try to depict retirement like this. Clearly for sales reasons. This isn't really how retirement is for everyone. In movies and Tv you sometimes see the mistreated elder. Adam Sandler's movie Happy Gilmore, shows his character's grandmother in an abusive retirement home situation.

The comedy will show situations in which these residents will flirt and banter with each other and do other things you'd expect more out of high schoolers.

Cartoons and movies like to depict old people as stubbornly conservative, as well as tired, forgetful, and grumpy, like how the Simpsons display Homer's father. Now the older generation may be responsible for Brexit and the fact that we still aren't using the metric system, however them being tires and lazy isn't always true if you look at the picture of the 100 year old man running.

Old White men as racist

One can possibly think of a prejudice old white person they have met. However, it is a stereotype that is often depicted in media. Clint Eastwood in Grand Torino is a great example of this stereotype. He is a war vet with bigoted views that lives among an asian American population that is subject to the will of the street gangs. He says numerous blatantly racist remarks straight directly to the people in his community. Not all white people are as hardened and close minded as Eastwoods character.

The media not often enough will depict Elders as I try to view them. In the Sandlot the old man who's property they were afraid of ended up being a very nice and kind man who had years worth of baseball stories and experiences to share with the boys. This is how most of the old people I know are too me. Smart and wise with a lot of life experience and insight that they can share with others.
