I really enjoyed using video in my class to host a video conference with another Kinder class. I feel my students really enjoyed participating with students from other schools that they had never seen before. I would want to use a form of pen pals that also speak spanish, I want to speak to educators from different parts of the globe to help develop their Spanish language.

I am also very interested in finding out how I can utilize math games and/or math manipulative on the iPads. I wonder if they would be more effective, over physical manipulative. The reason I wonder this is because my students are struggling with number bonds and it does require the use of blocks and other manipulative. At times it is far more distracting than a tool for learning. Thus, I wonder if using virtual manipulative would be more engaging and effective.

I wonder what tools are there for ELA, especially for the use of vocabulary. I know flocabulary exists for the upper grades but I do not know what technology is available for the primary grades. I would also want to see if using individual user accounts would be beneficial for students, and whether they include speech to text.

I did not focus my lit review nor my case study on ELA so I honestly cannot say anything has changed in my classroom since the beginning of the spring semester regarding ELA and Technology. I will definitely want any tips or any research my classmates have done in regards to ELA and primary grades. Maybe next semester I will focus on ELA rather than math like I did in the past 2 semesters.

This is the same as ELA, I did not focus my time on DE to help my students this semester. However, after creating the the presentation for our case study I enjoyed the use of voice thread. Over the summer I plan on recording the small decodable (35 books) and the 5 levels of high frequency words so students are able to work on them at their own pace in their homes and it can be tool for those whose parents do not speak Spanish. This way all students have a way to practice at home.

Edu Games Update: May 2019

For the EDU games, I still have not found many educational games that are good in Spanish and English. However through
our partner case study, we decided to explore zearn. While the app does offer differentiated practice, for multiple grade levels, it is lacking the spanish language. I use it with the volume on mute to stay true to the DI program, but I also shared it with my partner teacher so the students can use it in her classroom with the volume on during centers. After reading the research literature, I definelty see the pros of using edugames with students because it increases engagement and cooperation. Students help each other out and they are far more engaged when they get to use a game over the paper and pencil format. However, the edugame that I do choose has to be align with the standard or concept I am teaching so that students can be successful.

Out of all my initial I wonders from the beginning of the school year, I have two that I have worked on to further explore this semester. The two that I did the most exploring on are the EDUGAMES and the Math. They were actually working together hand in hand. The research ley words were math and math games as well as math and technology. What I learned is that to reach all learners when teaching math, I need to do more differentiation and I can do that through math software websites so that students can move at their own pace and can also receive immediate feedback. In regards to e-manipuatives I did not get to see if there is a big difference in using e-manipulatives vs regular manipulative. It will be something I definitely want to do some research on, because as a Kinder teacher I use so many manipulative and I want to know how I can be the most effective while using them in my classroom with my students.
