The target audience for my film are teenagers, aged between 17-20, with interests such as listening to music, spending time with friends and family, enjoying going to the cinemas and trying out new things to do. They’d typically keep up with social media and new and up coming fashion trends to stay up to date with new styles. They’d attend either sixth form, college or university and be able to relate to the clubbing or partying scene within my film.

By asking people to answer my questionnaire it enabled me to establish what people liked in a film and what attracted them to watch the film. My questionnaire was an important part of my research as it helped me to decide on the genre of my film and what I should include in my film, such as a lot of emotion and feelings for the audience to experience. From my questionnaire and questionnaire results I decided to make a mystery/drama film as people seemed to enjoy the wonders of a mystery film. I decided to keep the character in my film totally anonymous in my film as it leaves the audience to wonder who she is and gives them the thrill of guessing, as they said they enjoyed from my questionnaire.

The first draft of my film still had a lot of parts and sections missing, however, I asked for feedback on this as I wanted to see if the audience understood the basic story line of the film and to see if they had any suggestions or ideas I could put into my film to appeal more to them, as I progressed the making of my film. My audience understood the basic story line of the film and liked the short clips and no speaking, as they thought it added more mystery and tension to the film, implying that something bad was going to happen. However, I did get a lot of suggestions on how to improve my film. One of them being to reverse the day at the end of my film. The audience felt as if this would be a good ending for my film as it shows how a normal day can flip and change in the blink of an eye. The audience also suggested some music throughout the film as well as the sound effects throughout the film, as the sound effects alone sounded very out of place.

From my audience feedback I have learnt how to improve my film, to better suit the target audience. I have learnt what my target audience like and do not like about my film. I considered all the improvement suggestions given by my audience and made some changes in my film. For example. I reversed the women’s day at the end of my film and added a siren sound during this to show how a day can start and end so differently. My audience liked this idea as it gave them a chance to look back over the film, it seemed like the women’s day was repeating in her head as the ambulance was on its way, like she was having a stereotypical flash back moment, looking for the moment that it all went wrong.

As well as reviewing my film, the audience also reviewed my poster and magazine review drafts. The feedback I received from the audience for my magazine review and poster were not as positive as the feedback I received for the film. The audience did not like my film review as it was too plain and boring, there were not any colours used and the image in the film review was not a very clear image, I chose to use the image as the women in my film is never seen I did not want there to be a face on my magazine review or poster, however my feedback suggested that using a direct image on the review was better than using one where the women cannot be seen as it gives the audience a better picture of the women and the life she had. My audience liked the main image on the poster as it gave them a smaller insight to the women, which can not be given in my film. They liked the red which was sued on the poster and suggested that red was seen in the magazine review to tie them both together. I chose to use the colour red as I feel like it has connotations of blood, murder and mystery which links to my film and film genre. My audience feedback taught me how to improve my film review and poster. When going back to my film review and poster to make improvements, I chose a new image to use on my review and I used the red colour in both of my products as it linked them both together quite well.
