         <description><![CDATA[<div>If I was a pilgrim, upon seeing this, I would be shocked at what these people are doing. The words that would go across my mind would be atrocious, ridiculous, and unbelievable. <br><br>After viewing the video, I know 'serpent church' did not let the government dictate what they can and can't do. Similar to colonists they stood firm by what the believe and did  that. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Early puritans may have reacted to this sight in revulsion, as the pilgrims were most likely conservative people. As such, a conservative, Puritan pilgrim would most likely have forbidden such sacrilegious practices involving beasts in church. <br>Reaction to Video: <br>The pastor's reaction to the government restricting his practices is to ignore the law and practice his faith regardless. This reaction also stems from his beliefs, that God wants him to handle snakes regardless of the risks. </div>]]></description>

However laerned to deal with the creature and made it tradition.<br><br>Reaction to video-<br>The pastor decided that no body of government could dictate what he would be able and not able to do when it comes to religious traditions. Although snake handling was illegal, he continued to do it in order to follow the commands given by god. He would treat the bites as blessings and snake handling in general as a tradition. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The pilgrims/puritans would have been disgusted by this because they, like Oliver Cromwell, were very relgious and hated/were not enthusiased by what others considered fun. <br><br>The guy in the video says that he doesn't care about the law against serpents in churches, and would go on and do it anyway, showing that he wouldn't let the government interfere with his religious beliefs.</div>]]></description>

The Puritans would not have approved of this certain practice and would have considered it to be very unusual and unfamiliar. In summary, the Puritans would be surprised by this practice.<br><br>The preacher in the video understood he was disobeying the law, yet still continued the practice. It is clear he believes the government cannot tell him what to do or how to act. He instead believes the Bible can tell him what to do and that religion comes before government.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Puritans might have thought this sight was scandalous, as it does not fit into their belief system. The pilgrims were Separatists, meaning they wanted to practice Catholicism&nbsp; in the way that they believed was right. The people in this image seems to be venerating a snake, which is often perceived as evil.<br><br><br>The snake handling pastor had a total disregard to the law prohibiting snakes inside churches. I think this says a lot about their willful faith to their God and what he has in store for them. They believe that if they die from the venomous snake, they are dying because their god wills it and that it is honorable.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><del>The Puritans most likely would  be shocked by this because snakes aren't a common thing to see, and many people are skittish around snakes. Snakes might also have negative religious or cultural symbolism.<br><br></del>The priest did not care about the law in his state, and in many ways the law only made him want to continue the practice even more. He accepted that if somebody dies as a result of this practice, they will most likely face legal issues, but he also feels that if someone dies this way, that is how God intended it.</div>]]></description>
